During the 1920's my maternal grandparents immigrated from France and my paternal grandparents immigrated from Ireland and former in-laws immigrated from Italy. Although they all assimilated into the US culture, I have heard stories from all of them about their periods of disfranchisement and cultural struggles following their arrival. This link contains and excellent bi-partisan discussion of immigration history and the issues which are of importance to us all.. I think that understanding the history of legislative changes will help us make informed decisions today. http://www.closeup.org/immigrat.htm
I am a supporter of those who come to the US legally, learn our language, participate in our country and earn the rights afforded to our citizens. It is unfortunate that the illegals color our perception of the legal immigrants.
I get email from one of the political parties...not one of the big 2... and yesterday..I got instructions on how and where, in Florida, to report illegal aliens.. Weird.....
