Bear in mind that it was the local police and paramilitary defending the Consulate, not US troops. Were it the Emabssy, different rules apply. That would be Marines (even if they can't carry bullets) supplemented by the Paks. Case extant, the Paks did the right thing if for no other reason than to ensure we keep sending them "aid" (otherwise known as buying friends and allies.)

Some muzzie must have been reading the Monkey and said to his Mullah, "Hey, do you remember that guy who wrote that sh!77y book?"....and because of inflation, had to raise the price on Rushdie's head.

Another slap in the face to the White House response of: "This was a spontaneous event."

I had on FOX news this morning. According to Bill Hemmer (??) he said the attack on the consulate was a terrorist attack. That's correct folks, it took the press how many days to figure that out.

0bama sat on his duff for 5 hours while Americans were fighting to stay alive. If 0bama would have sent an AC-130 gunship to Libya to terminate any hostile action directed towards our Consulate; those Americans would have been alive. Probably a lot less attacks on our embassies and consulates also.

After 0bama's arab spring speech, they know he is weaker than Carter and what worked well against Carter.

US officials didn't see the attack on their Benghazi consulate coming—but critics say they should have. There was a slew of terrorist activity in the months before, including a June 6 IED attack on the consulate itself, the Wall Street Journal reports, but Ambassador Chris Stevens kept security to a minimum to show trust in Libya's new government. State Department officials say they were mainly worried about RPG and IED attacks. Given that the June attack harmed no one, one official said, "Our security plan worked." More details about the attack are still coming to light. The New York Times reports today that officials fleeing the consulate took refuge in a nearby villa, where they came under attack again—this time a sophisticated ambush including gun and mortar fire. "It was really accurate," says one Libyan militia member who was there that night. "The people who were shooting at us knew what they were doing." Initial reports called the villa a "safe house," but like the consulate it was never heavily guarded.

An old Muslim proverb says: "Trust in Allah, but tie up your camel." The State Department needed to tie up its camel. When I was in Beirut many moons ago, some State Department suits, at the direction of the Ambassador, made us dismantle the firing positions we had erected around the Marine headquarters. They said that our sandbagged positions looked too aggressive and menacing, and that we were a "peacekeeping force;" that we should maintain a cautious, but friendly posture. That was in March of 1983. The BLT bombing occurred the 23rd of October of that year.

Hindsight may be 20-20, but even us young jarheads could see the potential for really bad things to happen. Prior to the bombing, our weapons weren't allowed to be loaded, and even pulling a magazine from your magazine pouch without a lawful order from a Commissioned Officer was grounds for Court Martial. One would think even the State Department was capable of learning from past mistakes.

The f'ing desert! Blow it up!! I jest...but you know, if those peace-lovers weren't sitting on such a big bathtub full of oil, they wouldn't be able to afford two sticks to rub together....well, except for the opium I guess.

Too bad moohamud couldn't have settled around Nepal...the world would've forgotten about them.
