Leafs are gonna win the cup this year...(slap self)
Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal...like 3 different worlds really.
TO has culture and a real identity but I wouldn't call it a "melting pot" anymore.
Experiment failed. Victory India and Pakistan for Brampton/Scarborough/Mississauga.
Vancouver is nature paradise but no identity and over 50% Chinese.
Experiment failed. Victory China for Van/Richmond, India and Pakistan for Surrey/Delta.
Montreal....*sigh* I'm not even gonna open that jar.

Anyway...it's different than in the states though...our immigrants didn't sneak across a boarder and though some of them abuse the system...the vast majority work their asses off to build a life here. I never see Chinese or Phillipino pan-handlers in Van...mostly Native Americans or Anglo junkies.

I don't know what to expect from the new guy...
You know they got a new leader eh?

I will have to suggest from your reply that you do not know the history of your own country.

No surprise there. Remember you as a Canuck went to war with Germany when England did.

Grabbing at straws and trying to misdirect again will net you nothing on this fishing trip.

That was my point actually. We back our allies while yall debated if u were gonna chicken out or not. Woulda ended sooner and much differently if u were in from the get go. Dont get me wrong...im SURE it woulda ended badly if u didnt jump in - so thx for that- but let me be clear here...

i dont want USA as my big brother or daddy or protector or economic dominatrix...
i dont trust your gov, i dont trust your media and frankly i dont trust a large portion of your dumbed down and indoctrinated population.

im happy to be your neighbor but im not much for free trade and definatly against an open boarder.

No, we came in after we were attacked, just as England did. England was on the fence till they had no other choice, Canucks followed the leader, England

I read your reply as being for us, against us and having an indoctrinated population In the Great White North conceived by a media system.

So you come across as confused and having yourself as being an indoctrinated person conceived by a media system.

You really need to get off this self hate program, it's very distructive. Read more history books before the reconstructors of history started.

Tune out and turn off the web and do your own research.

Chamberlain was the chief appeaser (give 'em what they want and they'll leave us alone) IIRC, right up until attacked. Britain was NOT ready, and of course, no one else was either. The Third Reich was in steamroller mode, and I think they hoped to roll it all up before anyone woke up.

Well, not quite, G. England enter the War after giving Germany a few days to reconsider their Invasion of Poland. They were NOT Attacked, directly, before they declared War on Germany. The same is true for France. Both England and France had Mutual Defense Treaties with Poland. It was those Treaties that cause England & France to declare War on Germany. Although Russia advanced into Poland, after the Germans did, nobody declared War on the Russians, as Polish Government had already fallen by then, and Germany had a Non-Aggresion Pact with Russia. Just getting the FACTS, straight.....

Facts is facts and I was wrong and should have listed this as the first attack against the UK and the correct timeline. 12 Canadians were killed in this attack.

On 3 September 1939, just hours after Britain declared war on Germany, U-boat U-30 (Oberleutnant Fritz-Julius Lemp) sank Athenia, mistaking her for an armed merchant cruiser. The 13,500 ton passenger liner was carrying 1,103 civilians, including more than 300 Americans, and 315 crew, from Glasgow to Montreal. The ship, under Captain James Cook, had departed there on 1 September, and after calling at Liverpool and Belfast departed Britain on the 3rd. By evening that day she was 60 miles south of Rockall (250 miles northwest of Inishtrahull, Ireland), when U-30 sighted her and fired two torpedoes into Athenia's hull without warning. She began to settle by the stern. As Athenia was an unarmed passenger ship, the attack was in violation of the prize rules U-boats were to be operating under, that obliged them to stop and search potential civilian targets and allow passengers and crew to abandon ship before sinking their vessel.

Several ships, including HMS Electra, raced to the site of the attack. The captain of Electra, Lt Cdr Sammy A. Buss, was Senior Officer Present, so he took charge. He sent the destroyer HMS Fame on an anti-submarine sweep of the area, while Electra, another destroyer, HMS Escort, the Swedish yacht Southern Cross, the 5,749 ton Norwegian cargo ship MS Knute Nelson,[1] and the American tanker S.S. City Of Flint, rescued the survivors. Between them, about 980 passengers and crew were rescued. Athenia sank stern first the next morning.

Most of the fatalities occurred in the engine room and after stairwell, where the torpedo hit[2], though these were compounded when one of the lifeboats was crushed in the propeller of Knute Nelson[3]. 118 passengers and crew were killed, including 28 Americans, which led to German fears the incident would bring the US into the war.

Having realized his error after the torpedoes hit, U-30 immediately disengaged, left the scene and did not report its attack until it reached port. Since the torpedoing of the Athenia without warning violated the rules of war then in force, Hitler ordered evidence of it suppressed, and Lemp's log was rewritten

Depending on the alliance treaty, an attack on your ally is the same as an attack on you. Anything less than a response to that is an unethical, immoral (and unreliable) allied government. (BYKT) Now, why the Russians went rogue on the Nazis, I don't know, unless something went awry in Poland.

Oh geez, Mindgrinder...ya'll Canadians are more Americanized than many of our own "Americans", even not counting the ones who don't speak English.

Perhaps it's a media psy-ops plan to subconsciously control your minds, too...

So we should shut down all of the US owned businesses and factories in Canada? Sweet, lets move all those heavy manufacturing jobs home where they belong. Nothing but love for my canadian friends. Your comment about stopping free trade and closing your border is a bit assinine. BTW most of us don't trust our government or media either so as far as that goes, tell us something we don't know...

Yes please. When a WalMart opens in a town of 50,000 people, nearly all the small business' die. Entrepreneurs get turned into minimum wage door greeters. I got news for ya...when those "heavy manufacturing American owned businesses" in Canada close - the jobs don't go back to the USA. They go to Mexico, China, India, Pakistan etc. They got sent here because your corporate masters wanted to save on labor when our dollar was .60 and now it's near par so most of them have left anyway. Good riddance. The American way of doing business (let the buyer beware) is an infection upon the entire world. Your corporations do not "invest" - they "exploit". It's not a "business plan" it's a "revenue generating scheme".

I especially would like you to take back all of your Hollywood film industry companies that are DEMANDING a 40% tax break for making movies and tv shows up here...

No new tax breaks for film industry, B.C. government says - The Globe and Mail

40%....where is my 40% tax break? So ya...please take all those "jobs" back home.
I'd be happy to lock the door at the border behind you too...it's not like America produces any products that I need anymore anyway. Your current generation doesn't want to work in a car factory or make diamond gusset jeans...they want to collect welfare, txt on Obamaphone and play video games all day while eating double cheese burgers and pizza.

    rant rant rant

And in case you weren't aware....Crown Royal has been upgraded.

Crown Royal Introduces Maple Finished Whisky -- GIMLI, Manitoba, Nov. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --

"The new installment is finished by running the whisky through maple toasted oak, resulting in an exceptionally smooth tasting experience that carries a genuine light maple-sweet flavor, followed by a warm, woody caramelized note on the end. Rich colors of amber and topaz blend to create a full-bodied appearance. The 80 proof (40% ABV) whisky's aroma incorporates the elegant bouquet of light, fresh maple combined with Crown Royal's signature caramel and vanilla nose."

Not all heavy manufacturing is auto manufacturing. The company I work for has quite a few plants up there. None of them build cars or parts for cars.
I do agree with you about the large lazy segment of our population. We recently started a new factory in an economically depressed area and are having a heck of a time getting employees for it. Many people are eliminated by the background check, drug test and basic reading and math test (8th grade level). We pretty much hire everyone that passes all 3 but once they work for a few weeks many of them quit. The work is too hard and it is easier to be on the dole.

I suppose in all fairness I shouldn't say "all American" companies operating up here are evil...but most of the big ones are. I've seen Qwest/Nextel/ACI/etc open call centres in remote CDN towns promising secure long term jobs if the city is willing to give them a free building to work out of and tax incentives....then they milked the town dry of talent for low wages and closed 1-2 years later as the CDN dollar slowly crept closer to par. I'm not a big fan of foreign investment from China either...taking over our oil sands and fertilizer fields. If you're manufacturing up here...it's because we got something you want...be it natural resources, skills or work ethics....it doesn't seem right that we always seem to get screwed, you pay less tax than a CDN competing company, ship everything home to put 1 finishing bolt on it and stamp "Made In America".

If you look into the Superhighway plans from Mexico to Canada and the pipeline plans from Alberta to Texas...if won't take long for you to see that it's all part of an agenda for a North American Union to lower our standards of living and bankrupt the middle class. Wealth concentration in Mexico is WAY higher than in Canada or the US...where only a few a beyond rich while the masses are beyond poor....that's what they have in store for both of us.

    Blah...sry to rant...good bipolar day....
