Veteran's Day!!

This may not be the place for it, but something this morning made me realize that there is a group that never gets thanks on Veterans Day.

I would like to thank the wives (and husbands) of "war vets" for their service. We are not always easy to live with and my late wife was my hero for managing to get through the wall, love me and keep me within shouting distance of sanity most of the time for over 30 years. Even 45 years after my personal war ended, the world is a much colder and harder place since she is gone.

OK...that is my seriousness for the day.

 

The Finlander(AKA my dad)served in the US Army. I asked him if he had to remove anyone's ball bag like they did to the Russians in WWII. He said no but he was staged and ready in Florida during the Cuban Missle Crisis. Was a scary period in history obviously.

Someone recently said that the flag is the one that protesters stomp, and burn that the soldier (airman and sailors) serve, is also the one resting on hiscasket as the 21 rifle salute is fired and taps played.
Yesterday, I was involved in 5 veteran's day activities over 11 hours. I have worked 8 veteran activities since last Saturday as a member of my VFW Honor Guard

I just left another similar website... (well, maybe it is not similar)
I posted a thank you to veterans... the owner said "yes-- yes"
but no one else said a word so far... his other moderators are ignoring the thread.
other members are ignoring.
oh man, this ain't good.
but to come over here and see all the thank you's and honor you guys are giving our vets..
it especially meant a bunch tonight..
the good (and sad) news is that in doing so.... you (I, in this case!) learn about folks...
