If you enjoy Survival Monkey as much as I do why not become a site supporter. You can support with as low as $5 or $10 a month. That is only the cost of a good hamburger or one with fries and a drink. That amount should not break the bank for anyone one time each month.

With all the posted information and knowledgeable people answering questions it is the best deal you can get for your money. Some members have enjoyed this site for years so how about taking the next step. For newer members it will be money well spent and you will not regret it.

Added bonus for supporters is access to the Team Club House where we talk trash about everyone, just kidding, or maybe not.

You can also support using PayPal, sent to survivalmonkey@gmail.com

I originally joined this forum, but took a hiatus for some time afterward. Not really sure why I didn't post after initially joining. Perhaps, I had too many other irons in the fire at the time? Who knows? Either way, the important thing is, I did become active at some point after then.

From that point until now, I have remained an active participating member of this site. Furthermore, I have been a regularly donating member here, for a while now. How long exactly, I would have to search. But, I would say at least a year, maybe longer? Time flies for retirees.

Regardless, SMF is the only site I am a member of, to which I make regular donations. (Having owned forums for many years, I am well aware of what melbo and the other staff have to deal with, in order to keep this valuable resource running. It is not always easy. And, it is never cheap.)

Personally, I don't know what the issue(s) is / are concerning the site. I don't need to know. But, with so many issues happening so often, it seems as though a new (or an upgraded) server should definitely be in the works. So many issues for a website / server to have, is definitely not the norm. I'm pretty well 100% certain it isn't the forum software.

If the server is the issue, I say shoot the damned horse to put it out of its misery. BUT, first move the site to a new, improved server.

If necessary funds are an (the?) issue, many members here who do not currently donate, I would ask that each of you consider throwing a bit of cash in the hat, and pass it around to other members here. I think we can all say this forum has given to many of us and it is the least we could do, to throw a bit of financial support toward the Monkey.

Mountain Man has already given you the ways to donate to the site. I'm sure that, even if you can make a one time donation, in any amount, it would be greatly appreciated by melbo and the staff. Forums don't run themselves, folks. It takes money and a lot of work - mostly unpaid.

I became a site supporter because @Yard Dart told me there was free beer in the Clubhouse...

Truly SM is a TREMENDOUS resource that I have used and continue to use and felt that a few dollars a month was well worth the contribution. I shoot my mouth off a lot here, typically on off topic threads. I spend a lot of time, though, researching and reading the more serious and helpful threads - hours of "listening" per minutes of "talking".

Unlike other forums, SM doesn't rely on advertising to pay for it's overhead and it sure as hell doesn't nark you out to information pimps like Google. All it has to operate are the contributions of it's membership.

@Mountainman Earlier this year, when the Monkey had an emergency (server problems), I gave a donation via PayPal that would exceed a monthly subscription for a full year. I am wondering if that would suffice for my annual dues? And, if not, exactly how do I do a one-time yearly payment that would allow me to become a site supporter? I guess the real question is if that is even possible?

Sorry, but I do not do reoccurring payments/subscriptions on anything - period - if I can get out of them. I know, weird, but there it is... I have no problem supporting the Monkey Tree, in fact, I wish to do so (as proven earlier this year) as it has become one of my favorite pastimes, a truly an enjoyable one too, and I have grow quite fond of my fellow monkeys. Furthermore, there is a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience here which cannot be found elsewhere, plus maturity and an openness that cannot be matched. Besides, where else could I get my regular dose of abuse from Chello? LOL!

@Thunder5Ranch 'I need to re-up mine since it is lookin like I am going to live :)'
Face it, you're just too damn ornery to die and certainly not that easy. LOL!

Currently we do not have a PO Box to mail donations. There is a way to make a lump sum donation via resources with a credit card.

For general knowledge and making a lump sum donation to SM:

While logged out go to the resources page, there is a donation banner. One can do a lump sum donation using a visa. Pre-paid visa cards work also. Click the paypal button and it brings you to a Salem Resources donation page. It gives you the option to use a credit or debit card without signing onto paypal.

Look for this on the top banner of resources:
We've made all our Resources available to guests - would you consider a donation to support us? Please don't hotlink directly to these files, share the url from this page's address bar.

    Donate with Paypal

There is a question on the Salem Resources page that asks what resource you were reading. What resource were you downloading? You can click it and put a note in there which Melbo will receive.

Your lump sum donation should have put you in the site supporter status. I put this thread up to help out and don't have any control over giving you the supporter status. @melbo is the person that has done it in the past but I'm going to also add @ghrit into this and see what happens.

I'm notorious for cheapness and I not only give monthly but upped my ante for fine cigars in addition to the abnormal experience based knowledge found here.

I never visit the site logged out. But, that is fantastic, Motomom!. I never knew that donation banner was there, before.

That could also be a valuable link to add to a signature.
