perhaps it is a lack of unity?

too many want others to be the first and even then there are many that will not stand...

they just sit back and watch... let someone else take it in court/jail kinda thing... trained that way perhaps?

Ain't that the truth! The Lottery and Casinos are perfect examples of 'Anytime one state finds a new way to milk more money...'
But, I am hoping all those producers come to Idaho and let the entire west coast collapse.

"How long before the West Coast States completely alienate all the producers and lose all their cash flow?"
Well, what is keeping Washington going are those hundreds of software companies around Microsoft, last I heard there were 600+.
But, I will tell you this from first-hand experience that many people move to Washington just for entitlements and benefits; it shocked the hell out of me but it is true. Some were immigrants and some weren't but that was their main reason to go to Washington.

Since Oregon has now legalized gambling, Marijuana, decriminalized crack and heroin (amazingly) which will eventually be legalized so they can tax those, about all that's left is prostitution to increase revenue from vices. Pretty soon the west side of the state will be druggies, junkies, prostitutes, and alcoholics leaving the only revenue as sex and drug tourism. The east side will attempt to stay afloat, but the burden of paying for the moochers will eventually force them to leave.

Personally, I think it will have to get worse before it gets better - meaning - before the people push back. But, the elites are smart and take only a crumb at a time so it's not too noticeable and when it is then it is only noticeable to a small group. Call them want you want but they're damn smart...

America is dead. I am not sure when it happened or what took its place but the country that I was taught to pledge alliance to every morning in school is dead and gone and not coming back. And, the sooner we all grasp that fact the happier we will all be. I think I am about there but find myself still getting upset at times but I shouldn't for it cannot be changed. I mean, look what happened already this week as California passed a law that the whole state is now a sanctuary state. Think about that...they chose to stand by illegal immigrants rather than their own countrymen. Or, how about actors or other celebrities that talk opening of killing our president? Our 'elected' president and they speak about assassinating him for reasons that I still don't understand except that seems to be popular. The very best we can hope for is some sort of collapse and then, hopefully, some states will break from this unworkable union.

Frankly, having see prostitutes throughout the world, I have no opinion about them but do question what right that a government can outlaw sex between consenting adults. The only country I have seen prostitutes in a very shady sort of manner is this one and that is because it is illegal so pimps and organized crime get involved.

EDIT: Making prostitution illegal is about as insane as making smoking a natural plant illegal. It was nothing more than politics...and probably because they couldn't tax it.

At this point, I am in favor of allowing California, Oregon and Washington secede from the union. Let them be independent countries or form one country between the three of them, I don't care! Then we require passports from those, or that country in order for their population to visit!

No Federal Protections, No agreements for mutual defense, No Government Contractors agreements with companies in those new countries, so Boeing, Lockheed/Martin, Aerojet, McDonnell Douglas, Evergreen International Aviation, Raytheon, General Dynamics and a host of others would have to move into the United States before our government would renew its contracts.

@Dunerunner "... I am in favor of allowing California, Oregon and Washington secede from the union."
Amen, brother! And, don't let the door hit'em in the ass! I do truly regret seeing how Washington has fallen as in the old days there were pragmatic and common sense people there. Oregon too! California has always been a lost cause...

"...so Boeing, Lockheed/Martin, Aerojet, McDonnell Douglas, Evergreen International Aviation, Raytheon, General Dynamics and a host of others would have to move into the United States before our government would renew..."
Can you imagine the politicking, the 10 deep lobbyists at every Senator's door and the good old fashion bribery!!! It would be a madhouse! LOL! And, what an exodus...but it does cause a wrinkle being without a port in West but Texas and Louisiana could pick up the slack.

@Tully Mars "I don't believe that crap would fly down here, but you never know nowadays."
I truly doubt it which is why they would never try it there...first. They will try it in one of their states where they have full control. I do know it would not fly here in Idaho.

Do bicycles get to pay the toll for using the road?

In my book Aftermath, I bring up this very thing. And several other tax related memes - when you write, you get to invent all kinds of stuff.

As for "crazy tax schemes" take a look at imputed income taxes. (Imputed income - Wikipedia)

One thing I haven't seen mentioned YET On this thread... The TOLL is only collected on ONE Express Lane in each direction... All the other Lanes are NOT Tolled... But they may be slower in Heavy Traffic... that is the rub... You pay to get there FASTER....

That is the current HOV toll on a few hot lane roads. The new toll they envision is for EVERY vehicle, regardless of lane traveled in.
The goal is to make it financially non-viable for most to drive a car...and migrate to car-pool, mass transit....sheep in a box car....whatever. Works fine for those that have a fixed point of work everyday I suppose, but the service industry will not be able to absorb that extra cost.... how do you like the idea of your electrician or plumber charging over $200 an hour..... it is coming if they force us to pay these cost for road usage!! ;)

Not my Electirian, or Plumber, as there aren't any roads out here for the State to put Tolls on.... Aw gee, to bad.... So I don't travel on InterStates in Washington.. again Aw Gee.... Also NOTE... It will take an Act of Congress to charge on ALL Lanes on an InterState which was 100% Funded by the Federal Government... States Funded the Express Lane Expansions, so they are allowed to charge for them, but only them...

Toll on all roads? And how will that work out in the farm lands of central and eastern washington.

There are ships that are to large to traverse the panama canal, at least until they get all the locks resized to accommodate them, in order that they tonage from the pacific ports can be delivered to "American" ports. Or deliver through the ports in Canada.

Then there is all the fed lands and military installations. They do not belong the the state and as such would not be included in any secession. Lets pull out a map and have a look at just how much of the states would be lost if the where to leave. AND.. How will the states be able to force the right thinking parts of that state to go along with it? East washington has wants to form the free state of "Liberty" for some time now. The west wants to leave the Union? That may provide the right motivation for the creation of "Liberty"..

Maybe we can rent a left coast port from Canada or Mexico and they can use the revenue to build a wall to keep Californians out? We have ports in Alaska, just need to build some railways South. Or maybe we could just build a bridge across California?

Some Alaskans talk about extending the Alaska RailRoad to Kotzebou, and then a Railroad Tunnel under the Bearing Straight to Russia... With a Link to BC Railroad, down the AlCan Highway... To bad NO ONE builds Railroads, these days... Tax money for everyone on the Right of Way... and JOBs, and opening up a lot of Territory to Settlers.... Worked after the Civil War.....
