@Zimmy I think you're good. It's beneficial to sweat things out. 45 minutes is probably near the upper limit.

Today's workout is done! I did a 30 minute total body hiit workout. I spent most of the day thinking it was Thursday when it's actually Friday. Lol.

Today is going to be a 40 minute bodyweight cardio and abs hiit workout and I've been putting it off.
As soon as I finish this coffee I'll get to it! Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Yesterday was a rest day and today was total body and I got it done early. It feels good and I have energy for the rest of the day. A 30 minute workout versus 3 hours makes a huge difference.
After this 90 day program ends, I might go back to high volume training again. We shall see.

Today was an upperbody AMRAP (as many reps as possible in 4 minutes) workout. It was challenging and fun. I set a goal to do hooping conditioning workouts 3-4 times a week. I'm doing exercises that concentrate on balancing and pivots. Hope you are all having a wonderful week!

    Zimmy Wait, I'm not ready!

I've driven about 1000 miles so far this week but only walked about 6 total.

55 pounds down now and sticking to the plan.

Food cravings are kicking my ass like a monkey on my back this week. I tell my fat ass I don't deserve to eat my full share today because I ate it about 15 years ago.

@Zimmy Wow! That's a lot of driving. Do you drive this much regularly? it's good that you still did some walking. Remember to do some stretching. I was bad about not stretching for a long time and finally started stretching before bed and I can really feel the difference.
You're doing great and it reminds me to keep going too.
Food cravings also get me down and I'm trying to find some non-food related hobbies that I can do at night. When I can go outside and work in the garden or stay busy, I'm pretty okay, but I run into issues when I'm bored or feeling down. I should probably just go to bed earlier. Lol.

    Zimmy Wait, I'm not ready!

I made a couple of trips back and forth to San Antonio and Comfort Texas. That about 6 hours one way no matter how you slice it. Not normal at all. However, I had a great time with good friends and family in those trips.

I did 45 minutes at 165 in the infrared sauna and 15 minutes in the cold water today. It was easier than the first time.

I'm reading Far Journeys by Robert Monroe. It's about out of body experiences and all his adventures in other dimensions. It's interesting, if damned odd to think about.

I just finished Empty Planet by Darrell Brickner and The Human Tide by Paul Morland. Both are great books on demographics both current and historical and how they effect economies and the political landscapes that are touched.

I also read I Am Not The Hero by SourpatchHero. It's a magically-transported-to-fantasy-realm type of fiction. Good listening during the commute.

@Zimmy That is a lot of driving and definitely sounds like roadtrip material. I'm glad that it was fun and worth-it! Great job with your hot and cold training. I think that in addition to the physical benefits, this type of training really builds resilience.
Can you please remind me of what you've been doing nutrition wise? I have fallen off a bit and want to get back on track and when I read your updates I get motivated and excited again.

    @Alanaana

Target is 1200 calories a day

Carb grams less than protein grams

Minimum 80 grams of protein per day

Lots of supplements to make up for the missing micro and macro nutrients.

I eat fish at least 6 meals a week. Usually tuna, sardines, or salmon.

I eat nuts or an avocado every day.

170 ml of water per day.

That's all the rules I came up with that I could live with.

@Zimmy Now I can see why you are getting these incredible results and I admire your dedication to your health.
Thank you so much for sharing what is working for you. You're proof that it can be done!
I might start implementing some of these rules myself. Thanks again!

You might need more calories. I went through a bad situation in my 20s where food simply wasn't available for 20 days. That reset my metabolism (epi-genetically probably) and my active fat man weight management calories were only about 1800/day before I started trying to lose weight.

@Zimmy 20 days is such a long time and I'm glad that you survived through that and are okay. I was thinking that I will probably need more, but I really appreciate you sharing what is working well for you. I recently started having a lot more fish and finally managed to get off of sleep aid and am starting to calm down with chamomile tea instead. Also, avocado season is almost here!

Happy Friday! Today I have a 45 minute total body workout in queue, but it will probably happen later in the day... After a bowl of homemade black bean scallop chili with beans, chilis, and spices grown in my garden! This month, I participated in another month long dance challenge. It is an advanced choreography challenge and we were supposed to spend the month learning 5 scales which are basically skill based drills. Next week, the founding instructor will teach the choreo. Since I'm still a beginner dancer, I'm not sure if my skills will be solid enough for me to follow the choreo, but hopefully they will be.
Here is a link to a recording of the scales I practiced this morning. I'm happy that I can do them all from memory and on both sides. I was super confused for a long time, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. Wish me luck!

Do you have plans for this Memorial Day weekend? I'm going to spend lots of time in the garden praying and giving thanks to all the brave souls who sacrificed their lives for our country. On another note, I finally got the Rosemary plant of my dreams!

I’m on call through the long weekend. I’m still doing my thing running, lifting and my 5 AM class. In August we are doing a family 10k. Nobody wanted to pay some group nor hang out in a crowd so… 1st annual. My girls ran cross-country and my SIL’s are animals so I might finish last. Boo.

@Meat I hope the weekend will go well for you. Remember to stay hydrated! Great job with your routine it's so functional. A 10K with the family sounds like a lot of fun! You sound like a family full of runners. I used to love bringing my sister to 5k and 10k runs. Washington State has so many fun events like that and lots of cool parks. I always get excited when I read about your upcoming goals and events. Thanks for sharing them with us here.

I bought a device that measures grip strength, Amazon. We shall see if Meat’s grip strength is actually legendary or ordinary. If you don’t hear back from me on the subject you’ll know the answer. Lol.
Meanwhile after some long weird hours this week (car vs power pole calls, wind and etc) I should be back on track running.
Oh, I’m reading a book now too, The Sledge Patrol. I’ll bet not many know anything about WW2 and Greenland. My plan is to read one book a month for starters. I’m all about unbelievable true stories, just like the book I wrote. Lol. (Still in my garage, rough.)

@Meat Hopefully we'll get that grip strength update! If I reach my milestone goal in July, I'm going to order the wrist exercise balls that you shared. I like to do that. Choose something that works as a carrot to dangle. I hope you'll dust off your book from the garage someday. You're great at building up the suspense! And a book per month is a great goal! That's how I started.

I'm feeling really good and strong this week! Today was leg day and it was really challenging. I'm glad that tomorrow is rest day.

Last week I read books in honor of Asian Pacific Islander Month:
    • The Mermaid From Jeju By Sumi Hahn. I gave this book a 5 star review. It is a Historical Fiction that talks about the aftermath of WWII in Jeju Island. It was really interesting to learn about the Haenyeo who were the female free divers who harvested mollusks, seaweed, and other sealife for survival. This book beautifully blended in some mythology too.
    • Patron Saints of Nothing by Randy Ribay This was another 5 star read for me. It was a young adult, contemporary, coming of age fiction based on real events. This is the review I wrote for it: "Patron Saints of Nothing" by Randy Ribay is a deeply moving coming-of-age story that left a lasting impact on me. The novel dives into the harsh realities of President Duterte's War on Drugs in the Philippines, portraying the devastating consequences it had on families and communities. This major issue, which was destroying lives, needed to be addressed, and Duterte took drastic measures in response.

Jay Reguero, a Filipino-American teenager, is looking forward to a carefree final semester of high school before heading to the University of Michigan. However, his plans take a drastic turn when he learns about the murder of his cousin, Jun, amidst the brutal drug war. With no one in the family willing to discuss Jun's death, Jay embarks on a journey to the Philippines to uncover the truth.

As Jay delves deeper into his cousin's life and the circumstances surrounding his death, he grapples with his own feelings of grief and guilt. The story masterfully portrays Jay's struggle to understand Jun's reality, his refusal to believe that Jun could have been battling addiction, and his determination to piece together the fragmented and painful truth.

Ribay's writing is powerful and evocative, capturing the complexities of family, identity, and the search for truth in the face of tragedy. This book is an eye-opening exploration of the human cost of the drug war, and Jay's journey is both heart-wrenching and inspiring.
    I'm Currently reading:
"Wellness" by Nathan Hill. I enjoyed reading "The Nix" last month which is also by this author. The digital library will only let me borrow it for 7 days and it is nearly 700 pages so I may need to borrow it more than once. Maybe I'll get ambitious and read it before time runs out, but this warm weather makes me want to go outside and that means less time sitting around.

I hope you are all doing well!
