That heat ray is like a microwave projector. No health hazards? What does a microwave do to meat? Cooks from inside out. I wouldn't rule out cancer if exposed over time. It is radiation after all.

I would think electrified razor wire would work against the bots. Problem would be keeping it ungrounded. Electricity to fry and razors to cut lines and wires and entangle.....(just a thought in passing);)
Perhaps two lines of deFENCE would be best.

It is said that when Philip of Macedonia was teaching his son Alexander how to rule, he took him to a wheat field and as they walked around, he talked about nothing, but kept knocking heads of wheat off the stalks with his riding crop. After a while Alexander noticed that he was destroying any wheat that was well above the average wheat. While the story was told by the Greeks a couple thousand years ago, our present leadership still remembers it. If you stand out by word or deed before the final day of action, you will be destroyed or rendered powerless. That is my humble observation or as our fore fathers said, keep your mouth shut and your powder dry.

I tend to agree, but I found out the hard way that a sledge does no good against CS gas...unless you use it to put yourself out of your own misery. ;)

Yes the nail that sticks out gets the hammer but there are other ways if you take the time to think and prep for them.

@moto you do what ever you can. You prep for both and the more you learn and know the better off you are. Both hitech and lotech solutions help and augment each other.

It all depends upon time and money. There are many types of defenses that would be possible, if money were no object, and it could be built into the design. Defenses stacked upon each other, and self resetting. I doubt ANY bot of any kind would enjoy being dragged into a car crusher, automatically once hitting the wire.

Indeed.....finding a suitable android dog in heat as a decoy might be quite something of an expensive technological challenge. Perhaps an emitter that hacks and confuses the attack robo-hounds' IFF systems might work???

Any defense system, once fully understood, is beatable. The better you understand that robot hound, the easier it is to kill it. (Why waste bullets on armor they can not penetrate?) Or to put it in Scotty's words...

    Exactly.

When faced with a superior force don't engage it; adopt shoot and scoot tactics. Although scoot means you run away; it also means you live to fight another day.

As @BTPost said make it bleed. The North Hollywood bank robbery is a good example; after shooting Level IIIA body armor without effect finally:
"At least one SWAT officer fired his AR-15 below the cars and wounded Mătăsăreanu in his unprotected lower legs; he was soon unable to continue and put his hands up to show surrender."

A lot of people were killed or wounded until someone made it bleed. Cooking it with a Molotov cocktail can work also.

For robots, thermite. The old M34 has its uses also.

It would take a lot of study to figure out how to disable one. It could be as simple as cut its communications? As BT said make it bleed and I'll add everything can be made to bleed.

'taint no different than disabling any other machine or human...go after the brain (cpu), nervous system (conductors), circulatory system (hydraulics), senses (sensors, cameras, GPS etc), mobility (appendages/joints/belts/gears/transmissions/wheels), command/control (comms), etc.

It takes study, trial and error which puts one at risk. The proverbial "could be" sensors would be the easiest; however, there would be more than one sensor.
Judging by the OP's post; as it looks ungainly, some stainless steel wire as tangle wire might do the trick.
Interesting problem; however, Popular Science, the web etc. will show the way.

For walking robots (as vs. tracked or wheeled) a bolo should do nicely if you can get close enough.

That would work. People cannot help themselves; if one is patient, they will always give you the shot. Robots have less brains than people. However, taking the shot means they know someone is there.

It also would depend upon the mechanical mission. It could be heat seeking, and armed, and exposure to throw could be reason to fire. Need to know more about the stalker, before getting that close.

It doesn't look very useful, but it is very cool. Separating the polymer from the aluminum powder is a pain, and it's definitely best to use an iron oxide and not copper oxide if you want a longer burn.
