cracker. Since "touchy-feely" seems to have gained political clout, I think it is time to start a list of things that we find offensive and maybe compile them and send them to the thought control division so that they can protect us from racism and thought. I will start the ball rolling with this one, it particularly offends me as a white man, even though I am part "Redskin".

The term "white privilege" has gained some fuel behind it and I feel that from a person of experience the only privilege that I have had the opportunity to enjoy is bustin ass and pushing thru what ever is standing in the way of your goals

Was just having a conversation with another member on Facebook and thought I'd share it:
Just got a message from a new SM member who says he's your friend - PineKnot

His name is Bubba, he's a decent coonass

LOL You mean there are really people called Bubba?????

that is his given name, Bubba

LOL I alwaus thought that was a generic for good old boy

it is, but where do you think it came from?

Is that rhetorical? I can't imagine snuggling up to someone and saying, "Oh Bubba, you smell so nice" LMAO

    Bubba is actually fairly intelligent

    and a pretty serious prepper

I'm sure he probably is, just a northern misinterpretation of the term

Like we call farmers shit kickers, doesn't mean they actually do just that their boots are always crusted in manure

my momma calls me Bubba, but nobody else has the nerve to try it

    LOL I'll remember that

so it can be a term of endearment too?

yes, it is first and foremost

    Learn something new every day

down here, it is the cracker equivalent of "Bro"

Not a New England Term either

Come to think of it, we're pretty stuffy

we refer to everyone North of I-40 as yankees...it covers a pretty broad spectrum

You either are 100% southern or you're a yankee, is that it?

well, I-40 ran through my home town but I did live South of it

LOL Them against us, southern style

Bubba has no negative conotation down here, we don't mind being Bubbas

My connotation of Babba has always been a big, overweight, not to bright guy of pure spughern extract, a porch sitting, shotgun on his lap, dog as his feet kind of guy

"shrugs"...scratches dogs ear, what;s wrong with a shotgun?

it is actually a grenade launcher, but I got shot shells for it

    LOl

and I can play dueling banjoes, both guitar and banjo parts

    that was a good scene

    classic movie

I was just reading the definition of Bubba and I guess I should have checked it before I made any assumptions. Not necessarily a perjorative

I should spend some time with it in my thread on SM about what offends you

he played a good banjo too, that strange looking kid sitting on the porch
I don't find it offensive (Bubba) but I thought y'all did

sort of like guiny, wop, mick

nah, we like our terms of endearment...even redneck is pretty much ok, coonass, cracker, we really just don't much give a shit and can't seem to understand why negroes and mexicans and such seem to get so pissed

I have no problem with ignorant. I am ignorant about a whole slew of things. Come to think of it, just saying you're offended by ignorance offends me. Fact is, it's STUPID that offends me because it's damn near impossible to fix. Ignorance is sort of like innocence. Ignorant means you don't know some things. That can be fixed with learning. Innocence means pure and inexperienced. The problem with experiences is you have both good and bad experiences, and some scar you and can't be undone or unseen. But of course if you are closed minded and not up for learning new things, and too stubborn to try to understand, then you are beyond ignorance, ..... and probably are stupid. Lot of stupid going around. Too bad we haven't got more good learning going on to correct that. Lot of stupid gathered in Washington D.C. That's for sure! jmho

BTW, what's a Grunt got their back up over the name "Cracker Jack" for anyway? Do you actually know that "Cracker Jack" refers to the Sailors Uniform being worn by the boy pictured. They are not talking about florida Cracker cowboys, or ghetto dis of whites, like, "Hey Cracker! What you doing down here in the hood?"

I'm a grammar national socialist type. I tend to get a crinkle in my drawers when somebody types, "...and thats there problem because your wrong." --Obviously this took quite a lot for me to even reproduce, so bear with me. First, the word "that's" means 'that is', and it's lazy to leave out the apostrophe. Second, "there" denotes a position, and you should use 'their', which is the possessive case of 'they'. And finally, "your" implies ownership, and you want to use 'you're', which actually means 'you are'.

STUFF LIKE THIS. YOU KNOW.

To summarize *twitch* I just wanted to say, English is a confusing language, I know this. It becomes much worse when people are lazy and incompetent. Yes, I find poor grammar a little offensive. Typos are perfectly understandable, however. That is all.

Not much offends me... though that that is not to say that I don't find some things annoying. If I found the word cracker offensive....I'd probably starve to death.

My point exactly Chello. Note that once upon a time there actually was a thing called a "cracker barrel". This has nothing to do with a "Cracker cowboy". I guess sometime soon in the future my grocery will be selling "native American potatoes". We can't be selling those bigot named "redskin potatoes".
    .
Come to think of it, I am totally offended also with PC (political correctness) run amok.

"Zero Tolerance" is my biggie. As if every rule/law is "black and white". No guns in school now applies to those little green plastic soldier toys and to pastry that is chewed into the shape of a mountain.
What ZT eliminates is the common sense application of rules/laws, but then again, there can't be much common sense left in the world, especially with warning labels like:
This broom does not actually fly. - Harry Potter Toy Broom
Do not consume - Home Depot Treated Lumber
Take the pizza out of the plastic, then heat it - Big One Pizza
Warning: Never iron clothes on the body. - Rowenta Iron

    Dumb Warnings

People that take shit too literally when they are obviously meant "tongue in cheek" tend to offend me, for example "Cracker Jacks"...
It should be readily apparent to anyone that this is just a bitch-slap to our president re-naming the Washington Redskins and all the other stupid political correctness that keeps our population segregated.

Careful...someone might turn you into the mattress police " warning! Tag not to be removed under penalty of law" ( has since been changed to "not to be removed except by the end user" too many people were laughing at them, I guess.)

Obvious to one may be obscure to another. WHATEVER!!! I often put (tic) after a post that I see as one where some might actually think I am serious, when in fact I am being outrageously sarcastic. Sorry if I raised your hackles a little.

Nothing. What other people do is none of my business. Now that's not to say that if I see somebody doing something morally inadmissible and I am in a position to do something morally allowable that I wouldn't. That would mostly be reserved for physical defense of myself or another. With a few other notable exceptions. It's impossible to state here even a fraction of what they might be, however.

Otherwise, people are free to be offensive. My reaction isn't to take offense though.
