I am curious what soaps and cleaners you use. I am thinking about something that doesn't kill plants and could be made or grown so it would be available in an SHTF Situation. Most cleaners are poison to plants.

For most things we do fine using homemade lye soap.

Woodash to make the lye and pork lard.

I have HUGE stockpile of Irish Spring (my fav), Ivory, and Lavender scented (for ladies), in bath soap bars to carry me a long long way into the future. Have how to books and recipes for making own if it comes to that. Only time will tell.

I agree with @runswithdogs vinegar. You can make your own vinegar and then make cleaners. I have a bottle of vinegar and water that I scented with orange peels. You could scent it with mint leaves and give it an up-lifting smell.

You could also plant some soapwort and make shampoo and soap.
