I have been watch and following all these US Cities and town goverments going under, what I'm seeing worries me. When you have these jurisdictions shut down the people lose Police protection and crime rates rise. Every $h!thead knows when things like this happen and takes advantage of it, like here where I am a Deputy. There is one Deputy per shift for the entire County and unlike other states we do most of the law enforcement duties.

When we are on one end of the county or taking someone to jail our local $h!theads know this and take advantage of it. Now you take these cities and towns that have went under they lose their Police Depts. which leaves the door open for these type of people. I really worry about the elderly in this type of senerio what happens when the wave of $h!theads come. I know what would happen if they came to my house or another Monkey's home but alot of these people only have their Great Granddads old single shot 12ga Winchester, that hasn't been fired for 20 years.

Along with feeling safe in their community makes them open targets. I also wonder and Im not going with everything being a goverment plot for total US control. Still I cant help but to look at it like this, the goverment bailed out all these failing companies of which most still folded. Why not attempt to help the cities and town? Any type of help a city or town does get tie's them in with off the wall federal guide lines. What happens to these local goverments when they fail? Does the local goverment properties revert over to the Fed's or the state goverment or both?

What would be a better mask for Big Brother let the local goverment crash and all hell break lose. Then Big Brother charges in on the white horse with sword in hand to save the people. Then claim well local goverment failed and we came in saved the people and property. You are now Under federal jursidiction and we here by take all local goverment property to preserve the peace, to protect the citizens and the sheeple will flock to their hero Big Brother with open arms. Anyway just a thought

There are a few municipalities in PA that have gone belly up and the federal government has taken control. When they do they act as advisors with controlling vote on just about everything as far as money goes. This usually means that the politicians now are forced to abide by the advisors standards. The federal government for not take ownership of the municipality but, is the authority until it gets straightened out.

First, Police are not a citizens personal protection group. The individual is responsible for their own security/protection.
there are some PD's advising their citizens to arm themselves as they (the PD) can't be everywhere. The sheriff in my parents city advised them (at a senior citizens meeting) to have at least a shotgun and know how to use it. So what does that tell you?

Police are not magically endowed with the foreknowledge of when a crime is about to be committed, they arrive AFTER the fact. They investigate, interrogate, record and secure the scene. When trouble is seconds from starting, the police are just minutes away. YOU will have to make the decision, for good or bad, whether to defend or not, and then stand accountable.

If the federal government is on it's way to save the day in a city in your state, well, The City has failed it's responsibility, so has the State. Federal oversight, not a good thing when it comes to States issues. Abdicating responsibility of the state to the feds should trigger an impeachment of the Governor for dereliction of duty IMHO.

The police have never been responsible for protecting citizens, that is the responsibility of the citizens.

Not taking responsibility for protecting yourself is the biggest step toward not taking personal responsibility for your life.

Just let the elites have total control of your life, since you are not competent to run it yourself.

TC, yes but how many sheeple think the police are their 'Protection'? I'm betting dern near all of them.

In difficult times they will be considered causalities and collateral damage.

Is it then our responsibility to defend them ?

I would remove predators that may become a danger to me and mine, but how far should I go to protect those who made no effort of their own and are neither friend nor family of mine ?
I have some few in my AOR who are among the unaware, but I can only stretch so far.

TC, It depends. How big is your Area of operations. Is it just your 'Block', your village, City, region or state?
Is your AofO big enough to support multiple groups or just big enough for your needs.

If you are 'Defending' a large region with other overlapping groups doing the same. Your protecting your AO is also defending those that have not prepared very well.

It's all whether you are a sheep, a wolf or a sheepdog.

You can go fast if you go alone but you can go far with others.

Only YOU can make the call on whether you should support those less prepared. And History will be the judge.

You have no idea how much the police prevent by being there until they are gone. Yes it is up to you to protect yourself, but you will have a greater need to if the cops go away.

Granted it's fiction, but some of y'all might need to go back and read both Lights Out, and One Second After. A number of things can be counted on to happen just due to human nature and the way things stack up. The cities will collapse upon themselves. The strong but mostly evil will prey upon the weak when the infrastructure breaks down. In small towns and rural things will happen a bit different. Good neighbors who are prepared need to team up. Few families are large enough to stand alone for long. Local LEOs are a wild card, because just like any other group they will have both good and bad. Until good prevails it could be touch and go with local law enforcement. Alot of good and bad people will die for any number of reasons. .... suicide, starvation, murder, mayhem, illness, lack of medication. Lots of material goods with some value as salvage will exist just due to the die off. Abandoned property has to be considered and brought into discussion on a local level for recovery and distribution. Group defense will become a neccessity. ....... I could go on and on ....... read the books!

Sounds like a dept at the en of their abilities. Most depts do not advocate citizens arming themselves due to liability reasons.

Just wanted to add my two cents here...There have been over 10 (some say as many as 36) Supreme/State Court cases dealing with YOUR personal responsibility to defend yourself. Here is a quick list of some of those cases and a book by R.W. Stevens that is worth your time.

Police have no legal duty to respond and prevent crime or protect the victim. There have BEEN OVER 10 various supreme and state court cases the individual has never won. Notably, the Supreme Court STATED about the responsibility of police for the security of your family and loved ones is "You, and only you, are responsible for your security and the security of your family and loved ones. That was the essence of a U.S. Supreme Court decision in the early 1980's when they ruled that the police do not have a duty to protect you as an individual, but to protect society as a whole."

"It is well-settled fact of American law that the police have no legal duty to protect any individual citizen from crime, even if the citizen has received death threats and the police have negligently failed to provide protection."

On June 27, in the case of Castle Rock v. Gonzales, the Supreme Court found that Jessica Gonzales did not have a constitutional right to individual police protection even in the presence of a restraining order. Mrs. Gonzales' husband with a track record of violence, stabbing Mrs. Gonzales to death, Mrs. Gonzales' family could not get the Supreme Court to change their unanimous decision for one's individual protection. YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN FOLKS AND GOVERNMENT BODIES ARE REFUSING TO PASS THE Safety Ordinance.

"...a government and its agencies are under no general duty to provide public services, such as police protection, to any particular individual citizen..." -Warren v. District of Columbia, 444 A.2d 1 (D.C. App. 1981)

    (7) "What makes the City's position particularly difficult to understand is that, in conformity to the dictates of the law, Linda did not carry any weapon for self-defense. Thus by a rather bitter irony she was required to rely for protection on the City of NY which now denies all responsibility to her."
    Riss v. New York, 22 N.Y.2d 579,293 N.Y.S.2d 897, 240 N.E.2d 806 (1958). I find this very interesting about the "denies all responsibility to her" part...really, no s### sherlock...

    (8) "Law enforcement agencies and personnel have no duty to protect individuals from the criminal acts of others; instead their duty is to preserve the peace and arrest law breakers for the protection of the general public."

I know our Sheriff has advised the elderly at different meetings to be prepared and just because you are prepared don't mean anything will ever happen but if it does you will have some idea. I have to argue the point it's not up to L.E.O.'s to protect their citizens and I know alot of other officers who feel the same. It might not be my responsibility but I feel and believe it is my duty to the citizens in my jursidiction and I take it personal when something happens on my watch, I feel I let them down. Now when the SHTF I know my position and main concern will be my family and group. I do think this is the set up for Big Brother to take just a little more and set a few more precautions to give them the upper hand when the SHTF. We are already seeing more and more military boots on the US soil in the cities. For disaster training YEH I believe that one, I done alot of disaster training and have yet to order one of my guys to serve as a sniper. I hope Im wrong but don't think so, These towns and Cities could have and should have been saved if for no other reason to save some of the jobs the working class lost.
