I came across this article and am curious how others view it. As Islamic countries fall into supposed Democratic futures, is the potential future for Egypt as discussed in this article the same for Libya, Tunisia, Yemen....Syria?

So, this sheik is "A rising leader in the radical Islamic movement in Egypt that has become a major political player since the demise of Hosni Mubarak's regime", but doesn't actually hold any office or position in government. He sounds like every other extremist out there; words are wind, as they say. I'll start fretting when they actually take power.

That being said, Egypt relies VERY heavily on US foreign aid, as well as arms sales. We have a lot more influence than than most people realize.

Well, I am retired, and have a little more time to watch, listen and ponder what may or may not happen. Now, just suppose that the idiot over in Iran has been very carefully engineering these events to happen for a few years now. All at once in the last 6 months or so, 4 or 5 of these so called revolutions have all been in the name of democracy right ? And we are helping them with both humanitarian aid and military aid, all at our expense as usual right ?

Now, after all the little dickheads are removed from power, what if they all suddenly become extremists ? And one step further they all become one nation under the koran ? And worse yet, become all one little twisted nation under el dickhead over in Iran ?

What would make anyone out there think that they will become a democracy in the first place anyway ? For one thing, they don't even know what it would mean to be free. Freedom is just a word they may have heard at some time. No real conseption of what it is or requires.

IF, they were to all align with Iran, it is going to get real messy , real quick like.
And I will bet you a doughnut to a dollar that Israel is getting ready for just such a scenario as you are reading this. And just think everyone, if I am right about all this, it was mostly done on our dimes as usual once again.

Libyan Draft Constitution: Sharia is 'Principal Source' of Laws

The general feel that us $ will determine the allegiance is in my opinion a weak argument. Why would two enemies unite to remove quadafy? An enemy of my enemy is my friend even if we are enemies. Hence, al-Qaeda leaning fights fought beside the coalition members to overthrow him. Both had different goals, but both goals began with his removal. The aftermath may be a sharia lead Islamic state.

Al-Qaeda has had it in for Mr. Kadafi since he closed all their Training Camps, along with all the other Groups bases in his country, after Ronnie Rayguns dropped a dime on his head, and he wanted to stay alive. They have their Agenda, that is plainly seen, and the people, have their individual agendas, which are mostly unseen. I suspect these people will exchange one Dictator, for another Religious Dictator, much like has happened in Iran, already..... Religion has a nasty way of becoming oppressive, to the people of ANY country, especially when it has a bunch of "True Believers" in charge of the Security Forces.... ..... YMMV...

    Sounds like....

the foundation for the much ballyhooed united arab caliphate nation under one supreme muzzie imam, or caliph, is being laid with our ever so gullible cooperation and $$.

Here is the real deal. Anyone who is picked by the US is sooner or later going to bite the hand that feeds them.

Castro, Noreaga, Sadam, the entire country of France (tee hee).

The US has a terrible track record at picking winners be it in regime change or in industry. If it's failing, let it fail. There probably was a reason that the ship was sinking, be it a bad captain that ran it into a reef, or the chase to make profit at any cost including reinvestment in maintenance and upgrades.

I'm figuring anyone who is against a US hand selected winner of the battle, will eventually win the war.

    Just My Opinion.

Maybe the US government should stop supporting dictators, despots & other authoritarian regimes...Suharto in Indonesia, Pinochet in Chile, Mubarak and Sadat before him in Egypt, Hussein in Iraq, Noriega in Panama, the Saud family in Saudi Arabia, the list goes on and on.

I'm much more afraid of Christian extremists in this country, than Muslim extremists in any Middle Eastern country. Fanatics are fanatics.

And until we start practicing what we preach, and start supporting the free will and self-determination of the citizens of other countries, rather than supporting dictators who will dance to our tune; our foreign policy will continue to bring us one disaster after another.

As for all of the Arab and/or Muslim nations uniting against the US; it's not going to happen. The cultural, political, and religious divides are too deep for any sort of confederacy. The Muslim "boogyman" of world domination is a pipe dream. Only Christians, who don't personally know any Muslims, are afraid of such a thing. There is no more solidarity within Islam than there is within Christianity.

Sadly, the nuts on the lunatic fringe of Islam are the ones who get media attention; just as happens in our own country with our own lunatic Christian fringe. How many stories have you seen within the past year about the Westboro Baptist Church, compared to the number of stories you've read about the thousands of reasonable, mainstream Christian churches in this country?

Nuts and crazies, Muslims or Christians, make good copy. They're good for a laugh, but getting all in a titter about them is just plain silly.
