That's my 11.5 that holds up half of 210. Got no interest in wrestlin that sucker. Rather not stick an arrow in it, neither.

My sons in Anchorage Alaska carry a 454 and the other a 500 when venturing off the highways. Most guides carry shotguns also, I am told.

don't mean to hijack here but how well would a 30-30 do in this case?

30-30 would be a BARE Minimum for a Clean Kill, at ranges inside 100 Yds. Alaskachick shot her's (Black Bear 350#) at 50 YDS with an 30M1 Carbine, because NO ONE told her that it was to small for Black Bears, raiding her SmokeHouse. Brown Bears are a whole n'other Ballgame here. 30-06, 45-70, .308 is a Minimum for them, and still inside 100Yds. Bigger is better for longer Ranges, and 12 Ga Slugs for inside 50 yds. Polar Bears are n'other whole different Ballgame, again. 30-06 is absolute Minimum inside 100 Yds, and one of the Larger Magnums would be preferable, like .338 WinMag, .300 WinMag, or some of the larger Weatherby Magnums. ..... YMMV....
