Back in the previous life, we used to put pepper spray in guys canteens.... and yes I gave as good as I got.. Games people play when they are in the "rear" with time on their hands.... "We" tazed a guy in his cot one time when he took the games to far.... justice was served.
But that is just memories now... I would never do such a thing to someone now days ;)

I happen to like a wander, but the OP may not. Perhaps a new thread on practical jokes and jokers?;)

No worries, I remember a few years back I was IM'ing a friend, we started out talking about ice cream, and somehow it ended up with a discussion about Chernobyl.

My Baker Creek catalog has quite a few recipes in it, including one for Ground Cherry Crisp. So happy about that, I grew quite a few of them last year, but had no idea what to do with them really. Tomorrow I hope to finalize this year's seed/plant orders. Talk about the GMO apples that's going around should convince mom that we need those 2 heirloom apple trees I want(Duchess of Oldenburg and Wolf River).

I was curious about those ground cherries, never had them but thought it might be a nice alternative to a cherry tree.

Oh they're not cherry cherries, they're very much like tomatillos.

Well they look exactly like tomatillos but the way they write them up I thought they'd have more of a sweet taste

    Sorrento Broccoli Raab
    Red Noodle Long Beans
    Strawberry Spinach
    Galilee Spinach

    Chocolate Ghost Pepper

    From Baker Creek:
    Asian Winged Bean
    Pink Banana
    Vine Peach
    Ghost Pepper
Trinidad Scorpion(according to some, hotter than Ghost Peppers...I just think the name is cool)
Red's Red Sweet Sorghum(should be ok for northern growers)
    Gigante D'Inverno Spinach
    Plantain
    Mixed Canterbury Bells

    From Horizon Herbs:
    Witch Hazel
    Absinthe Wormwood
    Official Belladonna
    Black Henbane
    Official Mandrake
    Soapwort
    Official Angelica

    From Bountiful Gardens:
    Thousand Headed Kale
    Mary Washington Asparagus
    Country Gentleman Corn
    Rainbow Chard Mix
    Leaf/Cutting Celery
    Oilseed Radish
    Rare Wheat Collection
    Safflower
    Wax Myrtle/Bayberry
    Boneset
    Lomatium

    From Jung Seed:
    Wooden Pint Size Berry Boxes
Paw Paw Seedlings(I'm gonna name them John and Denny, but since the first pair of them I got died, their nickname will be J2D2)
Lingonberry and Cranberry offer(1 of each for reduced price)
    Spruce Windbreak Special
    2 1/4" Round Peat Pots
    Shitake Mushroom Kit
    Northern Sweet Potato Collection
    Virginia Bluebells
    Hardy Native Fern Collection
    Contorted Flowering Quince

    From Raintree Nursery:
    P. Nuda Bamboo
    P. Bisetti Bamboo
    Highbush Cranberry
Autumn Olive(supposed to be able to handle the cold we get here)
    Wolf River Apple
    Macrocarpa Medlar
    Corkscrew Willow
    Petite Negri Fig
    Old Homestead Quince
    Paper Bark Maple

    From Stark Bros:
    2 Heartnut trees

Grand total of all of that, minus Stark Bros cause I can't find shipping prices, is $576.66

Of course this doesn't include anything we end up buying in town. It's funny in a good way that before she saw Doomsday Preppers last month, whenever I would suggest items for the shopping list it was always "And where are you going to get the money for it?" Now it's "And where are we going to get the money for it?" She said that again when she looked over the finalized list, then she rewatched the first disc of season 1(checked it out again from library on Wednesday) and said "So what are we ordering this month?"(as in February even though it's still a few hours away).

I plan to order from Baker Creek and Territorial in the next few days, then in March order from Bountiful Gardens and Seed Savers, in April put in one of the plant orders, then the rest in May hopefully. That way I'll get the seeds in time to start them at the appropriate time, and the plants when the weather is better. And it doesn't overtax our budget.

I like variety :) Of course the Horizon Herbs selection, mostly want them as a curiousity. Most of them are dangerous, which is also kinda the point. People know I have them, it will make them wonder about me and think they should not bother me. Bountiful Gardens also has a home oil press I want, but that will have to wait, it's $160 plus shipping.

I have about half of my order placed; what I'm getting from "Sow True Seed." I order as much from them as I can. They're a big supporter, and provider, of heirloom seeds; and work with children's gardening programs, and gardening educational programs. They seem to have their hearts in the right place, and they're local, for me anyway - up in Asheville, NC.

LOL I used to plant castor beans for gopher repellent. People would ask, what are those? I'd say, oh that's what you make Ricin from. Then I'd smile and chuckle.
