will banning video games stop another massacre?

It would seem that "gamers" are coming under the same scrutiny as us "gun nuts."

I agree with a lot of this guy's points, but what he fails to see are the thousands of kids who play these video games and DON'T go on murderous rampages. Which, brings us back to parenting: if your kid needs medication or does really bad things, it's probably not a good idea to let them play video games 8 hours + a day, especially since some of the video games come with age warnings. So, why punish everyone else and a whole industry as a knee-jerk reaction? It's still a PERSON committing the crimes, not the games, because, if it were the games, our nation would be a lot more like Chicago in terms of violence.

IMO, the problem is the mentally ill cannot be controlled by medications and they are roaming our streets.

If people were heavily influenced by video games, then nearly everyone on Facebook would be farmers.

Growing up I played alot of violent video games. In fact I still do.
Most of my friends did as well.
None of us have gone on any murdering sprees lately.

There have been more people playing video games and there have been more mass shootings, so people playing video games causes mass shootings. This is a false correlation.

Consider the "Bartender rule". If he serves those who have had enough, or lets them drive away drunk, he is liable for what they do. I do not like shifting the blame from the doer to the enabler, because the doer is an idiot, but it does work. (mostly) I am the designated driver in any group I attend, and am often served soft drinks for free all night because of it.
Now, these games are rated. They are REQUIRED to be rated. then the ratings are ignored. So if you buy a game for your child, that is CLEARLY beyond his/her mental age, You should be held accountable for the damage you have allowed to happen through neglect. If he/she is playing games you disapprove of, STOP him. He is a child, beat his a$$. Make it clear, where the line is drawn, and defend your position. THIS IS NOT ALLOWED, period.
Being a parent, is not about being popular, or best buds, or BBF, it's about teaching your children how to grow into adults, where they can make their own choices. Until then, There must be someone at the helm to steer. If you are too busy or too tired to teach your child your values, you have failed him, and yourself.

I killed a lot of super nazis in my dayz. I was a Doom God on a 486! No humans were hurt during my long hours/days of killin' pixels. Well, maybe some brain cells but that didn't seem to affect me. Well, Maybe some brain cells, wait, what?

I was a hardcore gamer since I was 8. 20 years straight of hard gaming. The most I ever killed IRL was a rabbit in our garden. Cried my eyes out for days. I was 8 when that happened and it was during the days of Zork. Zork made me an animal killer.. hmm.. or not.

The medications/vaccines, GMO and additives are designed to make you fat, cancerous and mentally ill.
    No joke.

Regarding video games...uh...I managed a Microplay Video Games store as a young man....I don't recall any of the kids who rented from our store doing anything particularly violent. Though there is something to be said for the subliminal messages in modern games.
I only play Eve-Online now...so until I can convert my RV into a space ship....you're safe.

No,Sir...they are not. (maybe Canadian drugs) The first rule in medicine is to do no harm. In addition to that, no medication works the same for more than about %70 of people. Even Aspirin works differently on some people. So even if the "Evil Doctors" were trying to poison you in this manner, the effect would be uneven. About the only thing they can do successfully every time, is kill you. (lethal injection) even there, some people just take a bit more killing than others. But that is court ordered harm/ punishment.
There are, however, side effects from many drugs. My wife must take (at last count) 13 medication. Most of the meds are to counteract the bad effects of some of the other meds! Steroids are terrible for the body, but are the only effective treatment for breathing problems, They do allow her to continue breathing, but cause havoc with other systems. There is no perfect drug for anything. there are simply tradeoffs. And anyone caught doing as you suggest would be shut down, fined, and jailed.

I don't see games being the problem. I have read a drug ( fanapt sp?) which prescribed for some mental health issues can make people violent. Is that correct; how would I know?

What I do see is a president who ignores the real problems to push his agenda where there isn't a problem. I see huge amounts of money spent on illegal aliens; but none spent on getting those with dangerous mental health issues off our streets. I see a government who doesn't do what is right not matter what the issue.

Video games are not to blame. Mental illness is real and the insurance companies refuse to cover the real treatment that is needed. It angers me. Insurance companies will "allow" 5 treatments or refuse to cover a prescribed drug. I am sick of the press and society blaming weapons, video games and everything but the real problems.

"Full coverage" isn't necessarily a good thing with mental illness.
Psychology is more of a religion than a science.
I say this from experience with absolutely no doubts.
As someone who has a corporate appointed shrink (1hr per week) and has been put through the rinse cycle of 1/2 dozen psych meds over the last 2 years to treat "bi-polar disorder" I can comment directly on a fair number of things....granted I don't know ya'll well enough to be comfortable doing so. Never tried fanapt. Lithium, trazadone, pristique, serequil, xanex, cyprilex, diazapam etc...not the cure...or even the band aid. Dropped everything in Dec and made a major diet change with 100x better effect.
If you think your doctor is your friend...you're wrong. "Do no harm" gets put aside in a for-profit (or even socialist) system when drug companies start giving doctors kick backs for writing scripts. All those "sample" packs your doc has....ya....

Video games = not the problem.
Mentally ill? = Juicer + steamer, kale, carrots, broccoli + remove ALL HFCS, white bread and processed food and wait for the magic.
