Meditation is good for the physical and mental health. I think your dog is doing it very well. Your dog is looking so cute....
I've meditated since the late 80s for pain and anger management. The pain management was for an extremely bad injury in a jump. Anger management part PTSD, part just run of the mill oscillations between black-out bezerker fury and diabolical planning of the downfall of my enemies. Like everyone else, I suppose.... I shy away from anything after I start seeing the flashes of colored heat lightning. Beyond that, I sense there be monsters.
Animals facilitate meditation. I like horses and dogs best. Spend time with them and do nothing every day. share moments with them. I have synchronized my breathing with horses several times. They put their heads on my shoulder and close their eyes. If I have a student bareback they lean forward sometimes and fall asleep. I spend time in my garden every day looking at the hills and mountains. It is very restful and relaxing. Not conscious meditation, but it accomplishes the same thing. I try to go camping at least once a month for 8 months out of the year. No electronics. Connection, quiet, access to the Divinity in the forests, wildlife and rivers. The Outdoors is my Church.
