If you’ve used black tape as dental floss If you’ve used black tape as a band-aid If you have more DUI’s than divorces If your fence, mailbox post, and every other thing is made out of cross arms You dream of circumventing the electric meter I think there’s more but I gotta go act like a lineman.
Saw a lineman leave most of his face on a pole, they cut him down, busted his locked teeth out to rescue breath him as his nose was pretty much gone. He survived but was one seriously ugly mugg for a long time.
If your kids know a bowline before they can ride a bike Carhartts are dress up clothes You weigh considerably more than when you clocked in
Well , on the initial post of Lineman requirements , I was running about 1/2 to 3/4's of a lineman . But when everybody else started adding in their take on it , it dropped me back to where I'll just hang out by the beer cooler at the Lineman's Lounge ,, as long as you can keep the power to the cooler ,,,,,,,,,
They are almost done rebuilding the LInemen's Lounge from the electrical fire that gutted it about 8 months ago
Still have set of climbing spurs , gave away all the glass insulators in a yard sale . Still have a leather come along strap and chicago for drawing line. No I was not a lineman but I climbed trees and learned first on a power pole ,and had a few friends that did climbing . Trust your belt and your spurs and lean away. I have seen some powerful burn outs and piles of copper like candle wax . Responsible for a major outage . In the mountains for ski areas, running some big equipment . 6 - 600 HP Ingersoll Rand screws at one facility, and 6 - 1500 HP IR Cintac air compressors . both facilities had their own substation . Knew a fellow that survived being a circuit short ,running a crane near a power line that was suppose to be open . the crane touched the wire and the power came down the crane through the handles and in and out of him he had holes where the high voltage exited him, hands and feet.
Yep , I could do that , that's how you learn , by being the gopher . Sad story here ,,, My brother is a lineman , he was out working with his boss one day , they had a brand new bucket truck , the boss asked my brother if he wanted to go up in the bucket , or work the ground . My brother worked the ground . While his boss was up in the bucket , something happened , his boss got shocked , my brother said It melted his bosses arms from his fingers to his elbows . This has been a few years back , but the story I remember hearing was there was a defect in the truck that kept parts of the bucket controls from grounding , a power wire hit one of the control levers and caused a short . I'm sure I asked but don't remember what he said , but I asked about his boss wearing his gloves , don't remember his answer . so you guys be careful out there , we're moving into hurricane season and that brings on more dangers for you guys , stay safe out there .
You ain't a lineman until you have - a) a stiff neck from looking up and b) you're a member of the turtle club 'cause you didn't. Some things I just know.
