Blueberry Day!

 

13 4 oz jars for an hours work picking this morning.

 

@MountainMariner wild blueberries are the best. Unbelievable pictures. The one above looks like a painting.

 

Coffee first thing this morning and then made the outhouse run. Flushed this grouse into a tree, came back to the cabin and exchanged the 12 gauge for my 22. Guess I'm having grouse for dinner!

 

And a second shows up while cleaning the first. Anyone want to come over for dinner?





And to top it off I now see a black bear 800 yards away at the lake. Headed that way now while the grouse meat cools...

 

Okay, this was 4 and s half hours ago...you still with us?

 

Nowhere to be found when I got down there. I see others in my spotting scope but they are to far away. Yogi will show up close by soon enough.

The bear was in a perfect spot at 800 yards and I was setting up to take the shot with my 30-06 but couldn't get the data, dialed in and my booger hook on the trigger in time before it moved in closer behind trees. I snuck down very quietly with my 350 Remington Mag with wind in my favor but guess I took to long.

 

You do Grouse the same way we do dove.

 

Stand on the wings close to the body and gently pull the feet. Cut the wings off and scrap out the insides. Done.

 

So much better than porcupine!

Sow and one cub a little over 1 mile away. Eating blueberries. I really need to get a phoneskope attachment instead of trying to line things up manually with my iPhone.

 

So the winter pinks return to Mt. Denali. Picture taken this morning.



Last nights Northern Lights show was spectacular. And tonight's forecast is for more of the same.

 

Soon as I get a super zoom camera you guys are going to blown away.
