Nice view T,,,,, I miss those

 

Deer season started yesterday and obviously I don't hunt deer anymore. These 3 deer have been hanging around the property year round for the last 4-5 years, except during the rut.

 

If needed only. Those deer are not afraid of my wife and I and took those pictures from 30 yards away.

 

SHTF protein cache. I store pork and venison this way.

 

Here is our deer gang that is hanging around. Quite a strange bunch. 3 older bucks, 2 bucks born last year and a yearling that probably lost it's mother. Lucky that yearling hooked up with this odd group or something would have got it by now.

Even in the midst of the destruction of Hurricane Florence there is beauty.

 

Poor little kitty was on the kitchen window sill during the hurricane when water came over the top of the window frame. She retreated to this position, and stayed there for several days. She's fine now, but I think it was a traumatic experience for her.

I had two outside cats named Momma. This one, after she lost one life, her tail, and the skin off her back when she was run over by a car, became "Short-tailed Momma." When she was young she would hide litters of kittens from us until they were nearly full grown. As she got older she slowly became friendlier, and before she died she would sit on my lap and watch birds with me. She was one tough little cat.

Busting clay birds with the big carbine is a lot more fun than with the 10/22... until you have to pick up the brass.
