84 degrees with cloudless Carolina blue skies today for the 65th annual Swansboro Mullet Festival. I'm enjoying the absence of tourists while I can.

Meet Lil Bootsie,Found her in a ditch Friday couldn't catch her,So doing the next best thing threw some cracklings and beef jerk at the hole she escaped in.
Returned Saturday morning and after doing the slow roll down this country road spotted her in the grass like a little rabbit.
Put on some leather gloves and jump out into the ditch and was able to snag the little hissing,scratching ball of fur.
Looked around for anymore of the litter,Either they are hiding or didn't make it.
Returned to the camp and cut up jerky to feed this little bag of bones and fur.....
F.F. to Monday brought her into the vets office,Weighed in at 1.04 lbs with a full stomach.
I hate some people for doing this to animals,Think we will keep her!

Some people don’t deserve to live.

 

I'm a cat man. I know I can't save them all, but I've given a loving home to more than forty little orphan kittens in the past 30 years. Every one had a unique personality and loved me on their terms.

Cats form their bond with people at the first contact. Lil Bootsie looks like she feels happy in her new forever home.

BUT...

actually lowers your IQ and eventually causes ya to suicide IIRC...

 

I grew up on a farm. We did occasionally have house cats, mostly they were barn animals, as were the dogs. That said I have always been a dog person. Appears I'm immune to the Felis pestis virus. No vaccine for Canis pestis virus.

 

My pine squirrels do this to a pine cone with their teeth and claws. I don't think I want to tangle with one.

 

Are they knawing the lead off of that brass as well ??

We don't let them have live ammo. The occasional live round that gets raked up and burned with the pine needles is why we call it Redneck roulette .

 

Half of my grandchildren. The boy is almost two years older than his little sister. All American well rounded kids. There parents are as conservative as I am. Their mother raised them, worked a full time job and got her masters and PHD in Nursing since she’s had him. This is a case where a father is inspired by his child.
