I'd never heard that, and hope I never have a need to use it, but it is good to know. Thanks.

I heard lots of bees buzzing near the porch and thought it might be wood boring bees. Nope. Just honey bees loving up these purple flowers. Those grasses have been in the flower bed for as long as I can remember, and this is the first time I've seen them flower. IMG_20200906_104312.

The only time helicopter rides were ever welcome was when they were picking me up.

KC-130J made an emergency landing in a field near Thermal, California after an F-35 collided with it during air refueling operations. The pilot of the F-35 ejected and is safe.
Fantastic job of airmanship by the pilots of the KC-130.
Right two engines destroyed, left outboard prop damaged, wing damage and leaking fuel.

yeah well that field is destroyed now because of fuel leakage for 20 years of production. glad the pilot not hurt but there will be no food from that farm for 20 years and probably no compensation to that farmer. That land is poisoned. I have had to work on the aftermath of projects like that and the fall out later is an f### ing mess and there are no winners. Those pilots careers are ruined as well.

The leak is localized to one area and can be mitigated by excavating the contaminated soil.

I think that is the defueling/dump valve, not a leak. Very localized contamination if they get after it pretty soon or (as was done in the bad old days) move the aircraft and torch off the volatiles.

I just took a closer look at the leak, the left outboard air refueling pod is missing.

JetA50 is very easy to mitigate by use of a number of different technologies... I know of a 3000 CuYds of contaminated Dirt that was cleansed of all traces of it using BioTeck Bacteria mixed into it and then as they piled it up they laid Perforated Pipes in the pile and pumped Air thru it, for a couple of years... Then tested for any trace of it, to EPA Standards, and it was declared, “Just Plain Dirt” and Petroleum Free... There are other BioTech methods, available as well, that are known to be effective..

Saw a machine once that burned the dirt on a conveyor to get the leaked oil from an underground tank out.
