"A family of four should be able to survive for a month on a six-roll pack, priced at 460 yen ($4.40) and with a five-year expiration date, said Satoshi Kurosaki, chairman of the Japan Household Paper Industry Association.

    It expires???[dunno]

Well I don't know what sized rolls they are talking about, but I, pretty much alone most of the time, go thru about 30 rolls a year. I keep 140 to 160 rolls or so on hand in storage, as well as baby wipes in quantity. I ain't a baby but it beats dirtying a wash cloth every time paper just ain't getting it all.

Have four bails of 36 double rolls plus three large (Sam's Club large) cartons of baby wipes.

Ditto the sentiments on the wipes. I used to have periodic flare-ups of hemorrhoids, not uncommon for those pushing or over 40. Tried all the OTC "solutions" which were all worthless. Then read that TP alone just isn't complete enough. It was recommended to finish with TP with good amount of spit, a bidet, soapy wash cloth, etc. to get things extra clean. Started using baby wipes and problem solved with no significant flare ups for 15+ years. Yeah, TMI , sorry but figured a few folks here might benefit from that info.

We don't have a stockpile exactly, we just order at least 48rolls from Amazon every 3 months or so. And I have a recipe somewhere to make my own TP, but I don't know if it's recommended for septics. Of course it really doesn't matter, I would only need to make that in a SHTF scenario, in which case no one would care if we added an outhouse to our property. Well lemme rephrase that, it won't matter if they do care.

Expires in 5 years? LOL, I think that came straight from the paper companies mouth.

There was a thread here somewhere about bulk TP purchasing.

Aha, here. Some good info on buying in TP and other items bulk there.

I tried to order a couple cases but the Mrs gave the Stare Of Death so I thought to postpone my purchase. I just wont bring any in from the shed for a little while and when she notices it's almost all gone she'll tell me to order more.

Sometimes I just have to make her think it's her idea so I can get things done. [tongue]

We buy the big box of TO at Sam's, can't remember the brand, not totally generic but not a main brand like Charmin and it works well and is much cheaper than bg brands but not a coarse as the el cheapo stuff.

We keep about a 6 month supply but now htat we have a walk out basement I want to stock up more on supplies.

Someone needs to clean up, when the feces hits the oscillating air disperser.

I get mine at Sam's too. Northern quilted double rolls (can't believe I'm posting like I'm some kind of TP guru!! Oh golly, I'm officially an old fart.)

So inquiring minds want to know, if your basement didn't have a walk out door would you for some reason be less inclined to stock up?

Think maybe I'll go to Walmart early every morning, buy up all the TP, then sell 12 roll bricks for $60 in the classifides.

Don't worry - I talked it over with my wife and she said that if I go spending wads of cash like that it might wipe us out. I tried to ply her with candy and flowers (I think that's called 2 ply), but she said I might just as well flush our bank roll down the toilet.

What a crappy thing to say. Certainly not the whole roll. Just a small wad at a time....
