    You have one pair of boots. You have to be on the move. Which boots do you choose?

    All brands aside;
    The features I look for are a well fitting leather upper, over the ankle height with speed lacing, a steel shank, and a vibram sole stitched not "bonded" to the upper and preferable with a Gore-Tex lining (or a reasonably waterproof/breathable lining).

    My choice of boot is the Merrell line...
    I have worn most type of boots at one point or another, and the Merrell's give me great ankle support, light weight and water proofing for my environment.

    In the winter though, I go to my Danners any day!!

    Over the years, I have dealt with the Boot Questions... When I was living in the Wilderness, I had a pair of Italian Rickley's, that I wore until they were worn out. They provided all the ankle support I required, and could do any surfaces from Rock, Snow and Ice Climbing, as well as any Trail or Wilderness Traveling. That took two years, to finally have them FAIL, and I had another Pair sent out, to a Pickup Point. I wore out the Second pair, in the next two years, one of which was suburban living, again. These were worn 365 days a year. The next pair were Stanley Workboots, as at that time I could't afford the Rickley's, as they were then $350US/Pair, by then. The Stanley's were $60US a Pair, and within my Budget, than. I wore out six pairs of these Boots in about five years, again these were worn every day. Then they quite making that boot, so I went looking for a replacement. I discovered Danner Boots, and have purchased more than a few pairs since finding them. I have two new Pairs of the same Boots on the shelf, in the closet, for when the current Pair, wears Out. Again, Two is One, and One is None....

    Wear Danners daily, Vasque hikers to social events/etc, and have a couple pair of old military boots in reserve.

    Doesn't really matter much for me. As far as work boots go, I will wear them out in one or two years, no matter who makes them.
    Currently using Bates zip up tactical boots in 9"

    Years back I had a pair of Chippewas that were great boots but heavy. Soles were made to lock into x-country skis. I went to Danner's after that and have stayed with them ever since.

    Edit: My work boots are not Danner's. But my "play" boots are. I can't bring myself to trash out a $300.00+ pair of boots with welding sparks and drilling mud.

    Danner. Good boot, great company!

    They'll refurbish your old, broke-in, just-got-'em-where-I-like-'em, comfy boots for you, as long as you buy the right type (double-stitch, if I recall correctly).
