Everyone has different standards. I personally think these make people a target and to be fair. These have been around a long time. Where do you think USA leaders would go if the SHTF? They won't live in concrete bare bones bunkers.
I think most of our living should be just like this, because it's more sensible and does not create energy-dependent classes of people. The thought of a self reliant and self sustaining populace who do not rely upon the energy grid is frightening to the establishment, too. This is why it is currently for the mega rich crowd and those few with the knowledge and resources to pull it off.

And a cheeky emote would be helpful as written communication doesn't convey body language or tone. Yes it's annoying that everyone wants to 'go off grid' but at least they are looking at being self sufficient. ... it's a start. Whatever interest others and gets them started being self sufficient. I'm never going to criticize. I will answer their questions the best I can and hope it leads to more self sufficiency and more exploration. NEVER pound an inquiring mind just because the same question has been asked 1000 times And I agree with your analysis on the community aspect, people have to find that out for themselves.
