I keep looking for a good one, not too big not too pricey, getting no love on these goals so it occurs to me, I might be able to build one from Laboratory glass for under $200.

This one is priced at $499 or something ridiculous

That seems quite technical. Why not try this first.

Not quite sure as to your goals as end means here, Water perhaps?
I would use sand and charcoal and a paper towel to filter my coffee grinds, But that's just me?

There are some plants you need the distillation for as an oil infusion can be too strong. so I'm looking for a small still

I would not use glass flasks and science equipment, just given the amount of meth busts going on, and also because it's not much different from making your own moonshine. We're American, we should be freaking pro's at that by now.

Also keep in mind, even for a small operation, it will take many pounds of plant material to make even a few ounces of essential oil. I was checking into this years ago, and would love to do it, but decided if you're gonna ride this bull, go big or go home.

    Here's a primo setup

Built a Glassware Distiller, when I was 12 years old, to make Red Fuming Nitric Acid, For others uses... They are Basic, and simple.... Corning makes the BEST Glassware, Period... Buy the best, and use the BEST..... And do NOT forget the Ground Glass Grease.....

So do I. Though I have now taken to brining my own sweetener sachets to restaurants and coffee lounges. They don't tend to have that ricin after taste.

He was 12 and at 12 boys do stuff to see if they can. No edit reasoning function that asks 'should I do this' lol

The front cortex for reasoning isn't fully developed in males until age 25. Girls develop that part of their brain fully by age 21. Insurance companies and the army knew this long before brain science confirmed

Ahhh,l umm, ahh --. Backyard energetics experiments come to mind, just what teenagers do. (Works well as stump remover, too.)

    @Ganado

Rather than going with scientific glass, you might consider building a copper alembic/still, scaled to the kind of production you have in mind.
The pretty curves in the traditional ones are mostly for looks. You can use copper pipe fittings and tube. It will look more utilitarian and function every bit as well.

Price? I recently built a still with a 20 gal. pot. I used copper for everything above the pot lid and only spent about $40.00.
In order to make that ridiculously low price I bought all my absolutely brand new copper fittings as junk copper by weight from a scrap yard.

If you ultimately decide to go with glassware, you might want to make some custom storage cases. Stacking the glass in an old milk crate just won't cut it. Get a couple of hardshell suitcases from a local thrift store (@$3.00 ea) and pad them out with styrofoam and glued felt or soft foam cut to shape.

Chances are you'll be glad you did.

Haunt Google and YouTube until you are well informed, then make your move.

Actually I started with Battery Acid, (H2SO4) and Fertilizer, (Ammonium Nitrate) to make my BASE Nitric Acid Product, with Ammonium Sulfate as a Precipitant.... Then used the Glassware Distillation to raise the concentration of my Nitric Acid Product, until I had Red Fuming Nitric Acid... For my other uses.... Simple Basic High School Chemistry, at this point.... The rest of the Story is for another PRIVATE forum....

and YES, the result does make a really nice Stump Remover solution, especially if ne drills some 8" deep 3/4" holes, vertically in the Stump, and pours the stuff in the holes over a few days, and it saturates down the stump, into the Root System.... Then just build a small fire on the top of the Stump, and a few days later, fill in the hole where the stump used to be....
