    I have a few glass bottles that are left over from Easter. I couldn't bring myself to recycle them because I know they are useful.

    Once I remove the labels I will either fill them or store them for future use. I have been researching and read that if you sterilize, fill with water then cork them, if you store in a dark area the water will stay good indefinitely. I also thought of making herb flavored vinegar for cooking.

    I know you can make a torch out of them and will be getting parts for the wick etc... along with corks.

    I do question the water indefinitely information, would like to know if this is true. Otherwise, what would you use old wine bottles for? Seems to be an item you can re-purpose easier then plastic stuff.

    Poor mans canteen at living history events and reenactments. I like to put a wrap on them, or at least a cover. Protects the glass, insulates it in the winter, drip cools it in summer.

    Been practicing making arrowheads from some broken bits I found lying around.

    The aluminium beer bottles with screw tops can be reused for various liquids the sides are surprisingly thick and the tops seal well..

    Any big that can hold a seal can be use for caning and storage.
    I figure on refiltering my stored water SOP , and aerating the drinking water for taste.
    Even if I have t boil it ,having dirty water is better than having no water at all.

    You have to worry about them dripping if it gets to hot, but it has been done.

    I really like these for starting plants if I could just figure out how to cut them easily

    Great topic @Motomom34

    @Motomom34

    I have never tried it but being aluminium it should work but I wonder if there is an internal coating that would burn off under heat.

    Boiling water in aluminum cans. The study involved is why my brother will no longer drink coffee brewed in aluminum. (Scared the crap out of him.)

    Aluminum has historically been made with lead in it. Not supposed to be over the last few decades.
