I wonder if this would work o some people i know How to Hypnotize a Chicken: Two Easy Ways to Calm Birds
An Axe blade to the neck works, too but it is.... permanent. I guess it would be a great thumb saver if the bird was already mesmerized, though.
Actually it's a good idea ,I've got to try that . I have excitable chickens and they tend to excite the flock unnecessarily, If I can calm them down they are easier to manage . Chickens a fearful creatures when not hungry, and there is always one or two the others take their que from. Like a bunch of women (sorry they are female after all ) if one of the that is respected can be shown a path or a skill the other will fallow. They will not fallow a lesser class among them. If the leader picks on one the rest fallow , it's what they do . Birds that get picked on I put in isolation it's simpler than trying to deal with aggressive foul. They all will show some aggression at some point or another especially over food ,but often it's just you crossed my path. I have some little ones I am slowly introducing to the group but I must stay there to guard them and govern the older ones, the younger ones learn that if the stay around me the are safe . A few will get brave and insist on roaming with the older ones and eventually that backfires and they come back to safety. Once in a while one will surprise you and fly into your lap and hide in the crook of you arm, the older ones terrorize the little ones so. this is good thing ,knowing their food and security come from me. I have a 4' long stick I use to keep the older ones at bay , and they know I am not punishing with it, just creating a shield the older ones turn away an the little ones go about their business digging and scratching an giving them selves dust bathes . I put the little ones back in their coop before I leave and the rest are free to roam the yard. I would love to tame some wild birds , mostly the crows and doves that frequent my place even the rabbits and ground squirrels know I am safe , but the rats on the other hand know we are not going to get along.
You never really tame wild things. My favorite quote "I never saw a wild thing feel sorry for itself. A bird will fall frozen from the bough without ever having felt sorry for itself" D.H Lawrence

We wrestle Emus in the Antipodes...... I have hypnotised chickens....and I am positive that some of my posts have had the same effect on Minuteman...
OK I my first thought was answer as to calm birds as chickens , not female's as cute chick/bird . Then for G's funnin , I worded it weird , but you are serious to hypnosis a chicken ! Why ? we use ACV to calm them in the water & they all then just have a sleepy day if they get riled with a dog/bear/mink/coon/lion/ wolf /eagle/hawk/falcon , lots of critters here. Sloth
