Flouride Toothpaste---Nah!

UncleMorgan I like peeling bananas and (occasionally) people.

I'm notoriously frugal and will go to ridiculous lengths not to waste--sometimes.

But whenever I become the proud owner of a tube of fluoridated toothpaste (from whatever source) I throw it away. Period.

If I scope out a box of auction goodies and find a tube of toothpaste with the F-word on it, It goes straight into the trash. Even if it's a brand new tube that's never been opened.

It doesn't matter what it's "worth". It's poison, so it goes in the garbage. I won't even give it away.

A person should do their own research to find out just how toxic fluorides are, both in water and in toothpaste, but I am happy to suggest an alternative, in the meantime.

Brush your teeth with ordinary plain soap: no additives, no perfumes, no anti-microbials. Contrary to popular belief, pure soap is essentially tasteless.

It works better than toothpaste because it kills bacteria, removes biofilms, and rinses out cleanly. Toothpaste does not,. Likewise plain soap does not interfere with the natural enzymes in saliva that repair tooth enamel.

Toothpaste completely derails the natural healing/repair process.

It takes two rinses to remove soap from the mouth. It takes seven to remove toothpaste. If you only rinse once or twice (as most people do) about half the toothpaste residue goes down the hatch.

That is not good for neural development. Especially in kids.

Ditto, plus I never understood how grinding sugar paste into your teeth was supposed to “prevent” cavitys...

Tom's of Maine still makes a fluoride-free toothpaste, but many stores refuse to carry anything but the fluoridated variety. I buy mine off Amazon, and there are several types to choose from. You could also make your own.

I'll agree with the baking soda, and I used salt when I was in the .mil overseas with no access to hygiene products.

All I have ever used and I have had exactly one cavity and never lost a tooth from decay. Log chains, pool sticks and a 2x4s have cost me some teeth over the years but never Rotters. Errr and that time the pit bull got tangled up in my feet getting out of the shower and face planted on the rim of the toilet breaking one of the front ones off too deep to do anything with other than cut the root out.

It is hard to find pure soap in the supermarket. Almost all of them have scents and additives in them.

I use baking soda occasionally. I have read that using baking soda removes the enamel from your teeth which is bad. This could be a lie put out by the toothpaste companies. @Ganado made up some tooth powder and sent me some. It was great stuff. It was real gritty but my teeth felt great.

Stevia (to taste - go slow, a tiny bit can go a long way!)

    Instructions
Mix all ingredients in a food processor until smooth (no more bumps).
Store in a glass mason jar or a silicone squeeze tube for up to 3 months.

    Remineralizing Toothpaste Instructions
    1. Mix all powdered ingredients (calcium, baking soda, xylitol) well in a bowl.
    2. Add coconut oil one part at a time until you get desired consistency.
    3. Add any optional ingredients, including essential oils for flavor (my favorite is peppermint orange)
    4. Store in small container like ½ pint glass jar. To use, either dip clean toothbrush into it, or use Popsicle stick or spoon to put on toothbrush. I’ve also thought of storing in a plastic bag with a corner cut off to be able to squeeze like toothpaste, but haven’t tried it yet.
    DIY Essential Oil Protective Blend
    25 drops Clove Bud Oil
    20 drops Lemon Oil
    15 drops Cinnamon Bark Oil
    10 drops Eucalyptus Oil
    10 drops Rosemary Oil

I have made both of these and if you want dry tooth powder, which I take when I travel. I just skip the water and coconut oil

I also skip the sweetness stevia as I don't like sweet toothpaste

Charcoal powder and salt is a best combination toothpaste for morning brush. Sometimes I also use dunk ash for tooth brush.

The trick is, don't swallow it.
Who actually knows the hystory of fluoride products?
About 1901 a dentist went to Colorado Springs to try and figure out why kids born there were getting gross brown teeth.
He couldn't figure it out but suspected the very hard water, also noticed people with the brown teeth had very little tooth decay.
Some decades later there was another outbreak of kids with brown teeth in oakly, ID I think it was. This time the residents switched to drinking piped in hot springs water, replacing carried up hill regular spring water from snow melt.
Switching back to snow melt spring water did the trick. That narrowed it down to definitely being something in the water.
The condition became known as fluorosis.
And there had been a resurgence of this brown teeth condition recently, some people call it yuppy month. From yuppies giving their kids too much tea. Some teas can be high in fluorides.
So if it's so poisonous how come hundreds if not thousands of parts per million in drinking water only appears to cause brown teeth?
    Why isn't tea poisonous?
There's a shit load of feldspar (calcium floride) used in welding rods, why aren't welders who breath that shit dropping dead on the job site?
If its so bad why didn't it effect adults who moved to the Colorado Springs area? Assuming arsenic well theory, where in Maine if you are raised drinking from an arsenic well you're fine. But when outsider drinks from your well it will make them pretty sick.
