    Well, maybe she's hid it in her dad's church just down the street.

    seriously folks, If you prep, loose lips sink ships in the day of the internet. Everything you say, or have done is on here and can be dug up.

    Good gawd. I may be part of the Tin Foil Hat Brigade but to the people I live and work among I am damn near a tree hugger. Starbucks, new trucks, organic, free range, oh look at my heirloom tomatoes! green energy, blah blah blah, I am the person preppers and survivalists sneer at and consider "sheeple" when they see me, and I like that just fine. If and when TSHTF no one beyond the Mr will have any clue what all I have squirreled away out of sight. Certainly not some bubblehead reporter! There are three people who know I own an assortment of Reynolds Wrap millinery but even they're in the dark about the crap I've racked up over the past 15 years.

    The only one who would suspect otherwise would be the old guy who owns the gun range that I'm a member of and he ain't tellin.

    I want to know why all the prep/survival sites have a"WHAT I PREPPED THREAD",if OPSEC is so important??
    How many of you have posted in such??
    I've always been leary posting in such,and when I have(rarely)it's been little stuff that would keep my setup in general on a need to know basis only.

    I have two cases of beer. That is it....ok, that is a lie. I actually have only a weeks worth of beer since that is all I am legally allowed to have. I never thought I would have to write that.

    One of the responses below gave me a chuckle. The guy who berates us preppers for not giving our neighbors any credit during a bad SHTF event - NOPE! I DO NOT!! One neighbor is an ex-con, others are shaky-seeming rednecks. Way too many around here that I do NOT trust - being the 'gray man' is paramount! OPSEC is a way of life. No one here knows I am a prepper. If and when the Red Cross trucks come handing out MREs and canned water, I will be in line with the rest of the sheep.... "Baaaa..baaa...woe is me....!"
    I won' be standing out as "the guy who has stuff!" :oops:

    @ Clyde are you serious, you can't have so much beer???

    Thanks for posting that Reuters article, interesting, but like Seawolf mentioned,,,some of the responses are really interesting...you can kind of tell who lives in the city and has enough supplies to last the next 12 x hours or not....and more. People are so out of tune, don't watch the news, don't care really....

    How about Ba, Co, N. You can't have supplies without Bacon! Who the heck would give their full name and location to a reporter doing a story about preppers? Also she might as well have given her neighbors a shopping list of supplies they will find after getting rid of her and her family.

    Alphabet Soup??

    I know it looks like alphabet soup, but they are elements and compounds most commonly found in reloading components.

    Pb + Sb = lead hardened with antimony.

    Cu = copper

    Cu3Zn2 = brass

    Fe3C = carbon steel

    C + KNO3 + S = carbon / Pottassium Nitrate / Sulphur....aka gunpowder.

    In a PAW / TEOTWAWKI / SHTF environment...they may well be more valuable than Au and Ag

    I am about luckier than a two peckered billygoat.
    The little tiny town I live in IS our SHTF plan. We will collectively live on so OPSEC is easily maintained and anyone from the outside will be processed with the security of the town in mind. We have already been tested a few times in the past 6 years in the form of historic floods that has completely isolated us and snow/ice storms that have done the same. Sometimes for a week at a time. Everyone was kept warm, cozy, and well fed. To tell you the truth, this past year during the September floods, we made a party out of it. We had a pig roast on top of the bridge while routes out of town to the North and South were blocked off by water. We cooked a whole hog while the engine pumped out the house right next to the bridge.
    We maintain watch over the elderly and physically impared. Relocate if needed (to the fire station or the church) and provide care for those that need it.
    This is farm country so food and water is covered. This is also hunting country so weaponry and people who know how to use it is covered as well.
    This is where I shall make my stand. With my God, my family, my town, my country.

    Best that my neighbors know is I plant a small garden every summer & stepping in my yard after sundown brings an Armed Response that comes outta nowhere that makes them piss their liberal panties!

    Until I lost my pups, strangers in the yard would have at least one very large and fierce looking Doberman hot on their tail which made more than one person beat feet it for their vehicle and depart without even a good bye. I try to share prepping knowledge with friends and younger people who need to learn so I suppose they know that I have some preparations accomplished but, as I have mentioned before, my greatest preps have always been the knowledge I have gathered and my ability to take care of myself. That can't be stolen from me so I share the knowledge freely. It's up to each of them to learn to take care of themselves and be motivated to do it.

    Am I vulnerable? Probably more than those of you who guard your properties and pantries but I am armed and capable.

    Lead and some will follow! Just be a little picky. More people know what you have than you think. The guy you buy supplies from the kid at the grocery store (they know what normal purchases are) kids in school with your child, the friends of friends who don't have good judgement. The buddy of your ner do well family member who thinks your nuts, NSA from monitoring these blogs. The guy next door who knows what the buckets and lids are for he saw in your car.

    People call the cops all the time with lots of info on their neighbors. They do pay more attention that most give them credit for.
