There is so much going on in the world these days. It seems like all this bad stuff is converging at this point in history. I don't want to sound like one of the tin-foil hat gang, but it's easy to see why they buy in to the various conspiracies. Some of the things that are happening include: There have always been insane despots in the world. BUT AT THIS POINT IN HISTORY they have at their disposal weapons capable of annihilating entire cities or countries. North Korea now claims to have about a dozen nuclear bombs. They also have missiles that can reach United States territory. BUT AT THIS POINT IN HISTORY the Taliban and Al Qaeda are engaged in a battle for control of Pakistan's Nuclear arsenal. A few days ago Mustafa Abu al-Yazid, Al Qaeda commander in Afghanistan, stated that if they get control of the nukes they would use them against America. http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/655572 There have been oil shortages in the past. BUT AT THIS POINT IN HISTORY there is concern that we will reach "peak oil" soon, if we haven't already reached it. As the demand for oil goes up, the supply goes down. This causes prices to rise to a point that it is not economically feasible to extract the oil from the ground. This means more than just finding a new way to power our cars. Food prices will skyrocket as production drops. BUT AT THIS POINT IN HISTORY we have already had two bad crops. Worldwide, food reserves are close to record lows. Adding to the problem is the practice of converting grain to fuel and the price of existing fuel. BUT AT THIS POINT IN HISTORY we have the president of Iran publicly stating that he wants to wipe Israel off the face of the map. Iran is very close to finishing their own nuclear weapon. Even if they could not finish it, they could always buy one from North Korea. BUT AT THIS POINT IN HISTORY in Yekaterinburg, Russia, a meeting took place between Russia, China and four other nations. The United States asked to attend this meeting, but they were denied. And why would the USA be allowed to attend? The purpose of the meeting was to replace the dollar with a new currency as the world's reserve currency. Once that happens, the dollar will be severely devalued overnight. Inflation will skyrocket and real estate values will plummet. I didn't get into the Federal budget, or the economy, or the crime rate, or the Yellowstone super volcano! And don't get me started on all of the conspiracies circulating on the internet... The Mayan 2012 end-of-the-world prophecy, St. Malachy's prophecy of the Popes, various numerology theories, and even the collision between earth and the mystery planet Nibiru. I think I need to break into my stockpile of Captain Morgan.
