The only reason they don't use the 'socialist' title is because it has a bad stigma in our society from the Soviet Union days but more and more it has become very clear that they are indeed Socialists dressed as Democrats.

The Democrats are a lot like the British Labor Party. Every few years, especially after losing an election, they have to go ape-shit crazy. They are their own worse enemies, and President Donald Trump (damn I still love the sound of that) will be re-elected.
The mass of democrat constituency are socialists wanting the free stuff. The leadership however could care less, they are in it for the power. They are both in for the UN agenda 21 which has the foundation of reducing the population and needing the popular vote to give it to them. And all of them think they will be the preserved, not the target . There are a few that know about agenda 21 and are all for it ,so long as the circumstances do not touch their own families.
How Venezuela Stumbled to the Brink of Collapse While I am not a fan of the left-leaning NYT - this piece does a decent job of looking at the fall of Venezuela from a political viewpoint. I cannot vouch for accuracy in detail, but the main points are correct. Venezuela military trafficking food as country goes hungry The title says volumes. People often ask - how did this happen? I blame cheap chicken wings. AT one time, thanks to high oil prices, the elite and middle class were doing very well indeed. Once Chavez took over, by appealing to the poor who voted him end, he had to deliver. He bought cheap chicken from out of country and paid for the Chow using oil money. In doing this, he killed the internal (local farmers) chicken market. They could not complete with free. (side note, same problem in Africa owing to all the 'aid') This dependence on imported food spread to other areas until a large part of the food was importeed. Then oil prices collapsed. Inflation is so bad, nobody bothers to measure what the rate might ne - much like Zimbabwe - the local currency is all but worthless. Russia and China, both who have been lurking in the shadows, are now openly showing their hand. How this will turn out is an open question - but it will not end well for them or the US.
