We planted about 200# of seed potato's this year and got back close to 1000# for the effort .
I think I'll be quit sore tomorrow but believe it well worth it .
They are in and drying prior to storing them.
My tractor will have to be out under a trap for the next few days until the skins dry.

Post some pics for us. I'd like to see your drying process for storage.

ETA: I think I have become my Father... I just called 1000# of potatoes cool and requested pics of potatoes drying

No pics but all ya do is spread them out on the floor for a few days until the skins dry some and toughen up for storage .

we always spread ours under the apple trees
hosed em off once and then let them air for a day or 2
after that they went straight in the tater bin in the cellar
lol, i cant eat raw taters anymore, always ate my fill as we dug em
ate too many 1 time and got sick
we used to have a 5 acre tater patch out front and another 3 acres on the south side
with 9 kids and 4 dairy cows they came in awful handy

Congrats on your spud crop. Ours did very poorly in the raised bed. I let them get dry(I think). Will be buying a couple 50# bags shortly. Also will buy a 50# bag of peanuts-we finally went through the '08s. Then it will be apple season.

We were thinking about trying peanuts next year, just to see if we could .
It's great to have grandkids cause without them I would never got them all in today.
And they shoot better than they work.LOL

We have a couple hundred pounds of apples already. We spent a good amount of time today canning. I think we will get an equal amount more before it is done. By far our best year!

Why plant apples--lol. Just canned a bushel of peaches and may do another--if I can afford them--way high this late in the season. Have a lady saving me some small sweet potatoes so I can grow our own "draws" next spring. Will try to have enough to share at our spring gathering in April. We usually have a heritage seed swap.
