Just one of the endless, too many reasons not to live on the left coast.

No, not yet. These are mostly 4 to 5+ magnitude quakes, every few minutes to an hour apart. We definitely have movement, and if there's a large enough of a slippage it could be pretty big. Right off the coast of Oregon, so it will impact most of the coast from top to bottom.

A 6 might make a tsunami but you wouldn't be able to tell it apart from the other waves.
Yeah you need at least a 7 to make a fun to play in tsunami.
    8s make catastrophic tsunamis.
    9s make biblical tsunamis.

Dec 5 they had an earthquake up in Washington near the Canadian border. I have been watching and sure enough things started to get active. I really do not trust USGS so I watch different sources. A few unconfirmed quakes have popped up on Volcano discovery but I do not see on USGS.

Better check when that sun to earth magnetic connection is going to flip, it's usually about every 2 weeks and is a known earthquake trigger. Then there's the earth to Jupiter connection about every 7 months or so, it's the reason behind earthquake season.

Experts have stated that if the big one happens folks are to get East of I-5. That seems to be the line for tsunami danger.

If it lets loose in that cluster people have maybe an hour before it hits.

Should this be Cascadia - well - it will ruin the Democratic party as their power comes from the West coast, specifically California. It will also ruin the nation-state California and put a big hurt on America, definitely accelerate its economic decline, probably will be its death song.

I say lets get this party started, bring the big wave and lets get it over with while I'm still young! I got a plane and a camera, should be epic to witness, right along with the Chinese and Russian nukes we can expect any day now!

Yea, i'm kinda cranky right now, sorry!

As noted in West coast earthquake swarm.

These swarms sometimes lead to larger quakes. Today shows that is the case.

The swarm is starting to work its way north. all 10kn deep. This is concerning.

It only takes ONE to shake loose the Big Juan, and that's what I fear most! Will it, don't know, but it could!

If it's big enough to get over the coast range, being east of I-5 ain't gonna matter, unless you're so far east that you're up in the Cascades.

The thinking is that a wave sweeps up the Columbia River, which however unlikely, could have an impact! Remember the gap at the jetty at the mouth ain't that wide more that deep, so all that water would have to come rushing through, not seeing it happening, but what do I know!

I was talking with a friend last night about it, and I had forgotten that if a big one lets loose and causes a tsunami, it's coming up the rivers. And whatever doesn't come up the rivers will inundate pretty much everything west of the coast range. Looking at that picture and comparing it to an Oregon map, looks like the Siuslaw, Umpqua and Coos Rivers would be the first ones impacted. Still, about 50 miles as the crow flies and 500 feet of elevation to get to Eugene and Roseburg. It would take a really big wave to push that much water that far.

It's still rocking and rolling with the same intensity and mostly the same frequency. It doesn't look good and the area is overdue for another big one. Problem is, many of those faults will domino.
