What's the idea behind going to 10GHz in microwaves?
Is the fcc trying to clear up the 2.5GHz band?

Not so much to "clear it up" but to make it available for new uses. The 2.5 gig auction can't start until the lesser (longer) wavelengths are loosened up, thus the shift to shorter range (higher freq) rf for stuff that doesn't need the range that some of the 2.5 services want. A bit of oversimplification, but ---

and the 2.5Ghz Band Radars are mostly Marine Radars and used mostly at sea... So not a lot of interference once you get inland about 30 Miles...

    What about the distributor?
Who really wants to run breaker points?
The HEI digital ignition modules are bathed in EMI and rfi while in operation and seem to get along just fine.

Well the sun blew off what could be an x100 class away from Earth.

Well, not exactly… Marine Container Traffic from Washington State comes from various Ports in that state that are not necessarily connected to the same Grid… Seattle gets most of it’s Power from the Skagit River Dams in the Cascades, Tacoma, where the BIG Container Shipping Line is home ported gets most of it’s Power from local Dams south of town, and the lower Columbia River Dams… Alaska Marine Lines and Foss Tug & Barge all load out of around Seattle but use Diesel fueled Forklifts to load their Barges, and little electricity… AML is loaded on the Duoamish River, and Foss is loaded on the Ship Canal.. If Seattle & Tacoma burned to the ground tomorrow, it wouldn’t take these outfits long to move operations to Portland, Bellingham, Grays Harbor, or any of the smaller Ports on them west coast…

I run it with an old style points. A couple spare sets are a cheap backup.

The sun may be able to produce a solar flare x-ray blast powerful enough to make a surprise emp when the blast of x-rays hits the atmosphere.
But this is like a 1 on 12,000 year thing.

Little x class CME is on its way for Halloween. Shouldn't cause any problems unless there's 1 or 2 more of them.

I got a massive power surge today from what was supposed to be a nothing solar storm. It shorted VFDs, tripped 800 and 1,600 amp breakers.
I think it happened almost precisely 1500 mountain time.

How well would the EVs hold up?
Just as good as anything else or kaput like everything else?

No vehicles would likely be effected.

I was reviewing power grid schematics for reasons. And found a spot where the 250kv, 69kv and 7kv power lines all cross.
The air feels alive with electricity.
So far, it doesn't seem to effect cars at all.

have a 1984 F150 4X4 carburetor has elec. ignition but simple module swap will fix things if need be, have spare carb/distributor/module/etc. so can keep going as long as fuel available. also have point distributors for ford & chevy V-8s if realy needed.

Seems like electronic ignition modules would be fairly immune to EMP since they are bathed in radio frequency interference, ionization and it's sitting right next to a little EMP generator.
