5 or 6 years ago i damned near died, ingrown hair turned into 5 abscesses
blew my sugar off the map, turned my whole abdomen and groin ugly purple-black
3 weeks in a hospital bed, 6 more weeks in bed at home while they packed the hole
once a day with over 3 feet of gauze, then several months very light duty
was hell gettin back on my feet, changin my whole lifestyle and diet
started drinkin sugar free lemonade since i couldnt have mt dew no more
at first i was feelin good, just weak, then i started feelin run down and dead
someone told me bout aspertame, dropped that sh*t cold
id been drinkin it like a fish drinks water for almost 2 years, the effects are still there
but improving. not sure if ill ever get all the way back to snuff but im trying
before the "hair" i could lift and carry several hundred pounds, all day, everyday
now a 100 pound sack of grain is a chore
knees seem to have taken the worst damage, back was toast beforehand but it still works, i can still carry a small tree, thank god (how i haul my firewood) but thats a dif kind of carry, hard to explain, its like a live load instead of a dead sack
anyways, stay away from aspertame, that stuff kills you in ways you dont realize

Haven't had any asptertame in years. Interesting story -- all from one ingrown hair??

Hmm well I'm not at risk of drowning but I see what you're saying.

Had a good prayer time tonight about this issue. Lord spoke (in my mind) a verse I hadn't thought of in a while: "Be still, and know that I am God." And if you read the context (Psalm 46) you'll see a SHTF scenario. Man, that really helped me calm down.

Cdevidal, apparently you have the motivation to follow this thread, keep the faith. If you wait for deliverance to come to you, you'll be waiting a long time. You have to seek it out, and I think you're doing that.

Many will die in a SHTF, or in a slow slide economic depression, as you described it. What we're experiencing is unprecedented, quite possibly, in the history of western civilization, to the extent our system of government may not be able to form a proper response to it. Mainly that of the takeover of economic power by global capitalists.

Governments have responded to military threats through out history. The US is well accomplished in this area. However, providing for the common defense is one part of the constitutional role of government. The other role is that of promoting the general welfare, or wealth of the nation. It is in this regard, that our government is currently failing. If elected and appointed leaders of government were colluding with a military enemy, they would be deserving of death by firing squad as traitors. Whether you're a Christian or not, the effects of the Devil's conspiracy against man are obvious.

"Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived." (II Tim 3:12-13 ESV)

"Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!" (Rev 12:12 ESV)

The threat we face is not military, but an economic one. America stands at a cross road. There isn't enough money to pay all of the promises our Government has made over the years to it's various constituencies. The debt ceiling exists to prevent runaway deficit spending, which began in the modern American economy at the end of WWII, and accelerated in earnest under Reagan, who gave lip service to cutting government, but in reality began the push toward where we are today.

We are at war with those who will sacrifice the lives and well being of it's citizens to maintain the status quo of a system that is destined to collapse under it's own weight. If politicians were leaders, they would start by cutting their own salary and retirement benefits, trim the federal workforce, and begin undertaking cost cutting measures in every federal program. Instead they bail out everyone but their own citizens. These politicians and appointees are traitors.

It's not a question of whether the US will default on it's obligations, it's a matter of when, maybe by the end of the summer as $500B in US Treasury debt matures. It the Treasury can't find a buyer, debt ceiling negotiations aside, it could easily precipitate another financial crisis worse than 2008. THE US WILL DEFAULT ON ITS OBLIGATIONS AT SOME POINT, IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF WHEN, and what will be the consequences. The best any of us can do is prepare for the unpredictable. I'm reminded of a passage from the Book of Job, the oldest book of the bible,

"So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD and struck Job with loathsome sores from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head. And he took a piece of broken pottery with which to scrape himself while he sat in the ashes. Then his wife said to him, "Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die." But he said to her, "You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?" In all this Job did not sin with his lips." (Job 2:7-10 ESV)

God restored double to Job, after the Devil took everything from Job, his family, property, and health. We don't know what is going to happen, or how bad it may get, but we can place our trust in him who sustains us. We can also encourage one another, and one means of doing that is participating in these forums. Peace.

I really don't know how to contribute to this thread. It seems there are already a lot of good ideas. They can be summed up in:

    1) Healthy living- watch what you put into your body and try to get appropriate exercise
    2) Continue praying- I'll send one out right now for your health
    3) Keep working with modern medicine- Most* don't trust modern medicine here and that's ok. Sometimes, though, the quacks know what they are talking about. They may be able to figure it out.
    4) Never quit- Don't stop trying no matter what. Keep on all these ^

I'm not a doctor and I couldn't even play one on TV, but it seems like what they might call "bouts of melancholy" in the 19th century. Today we might call it depression. Mental function affects physical function. Everyone has a downer every now and then. In some cases, people just need a little help getting back out. Take a look at that aspect. Talk to someone other than this message forum about what's going on. I'm not a fan of medication in this arena, but for some its necessary. Just an idea.

First, it's cool to see another who uses the ESV :) Reformed?

Second, yep, there is no doubt in my mind that unless we have a miracle (perhaps another Great Awakening), the U.S. will default either outright or by money printing. Just a matter of time.

In Scripture, when people know something is coming they prepare. And they trust not in their preps:
Thus says the Lord: "Let not the [survivalist] boast in his [ability to survive any crisis], let not the [gardener] boast in his [green thumb], let not the [skilled marksman] boast in his [tight groupings], but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord." (Jeremiah 9:23-24 ESV)

Interesting that you quoted Job 2:7-10, I was just thinking about that verse half an hour ago.

May the church come together and support one another, a 180-degree turn from today's self-centeredness and division.

Oh definitely. I'm working with two doctors, one who does both western/modern medicine AND eastern/natural meds. Also seeing a chiropractor/natural meds doc who cannot prescribe meds but who was rather successful with my wife, and who is very, very thorough. Last night I had to fill out a 42 page questionaire, and that's just the beginning :-D

And yep, we eat very, very healthy. I think likely I have a parasite and/or candida like my wife, and/or adrenal fatigue, possibly some heavy metals.

If you were in my shoes, and you had exhausted all medical possibilities but were still very apathetic/lacked concentration, despite all that you tried to do, when the poop hit the propeller, what would your strategy be?

I think attitude is going to make or break most folks... if they don't think that they will survive they will die... age has nothing to do with it... survival is an art not a science... Check your Iron intake, and start walking and increase the distance weekly... i think you will find you havwe more energy.... just remember Illegitimi non carborundum ... don't the those who are illigatemate grind you down ( PC translation)

    Not reformed, just Christian.

Hyperinflation and default are the same thing. I read where Boehner is going to cave on the debt ceiling negotiations. Of course he is, neither side is serious about cutting spending. The Tea Party should split off from Republicans, or the Republicans need to nominate Paul. Either way, Paul needs to be elected. Carter was the latest US President to take on the bureaucracy in Washington, we'll see if he's the last.

It sounds like you're feeling better, there may be something to the depression suggestion someone made. Drugs for a short time for a specific purpose aren't a bad thing. Regardless, keep the faith, brother. We're all going to need it.

YAY! Tonight I felt normal. Last night, spent hours in prayer over this and identified some sin areas I wasn't aware of. Christians, you need to bless God if you feel normal. Non-Christians should consider doing the same ;)

Have been having more spurts of normalcy here and there; perhaps all the pills (about 40 a day), liquids and shots (1.5 inch "butcher knife" needle) are paying off! Or perhaps just the Lord smiling favor on me while there's still time to prep. Got some good prepping done while I felt good.

Found an article elsewhere on SM called Survival for the Handicapped Person, which echoes my thoughts: "I can’t emphasize enough the importance of having a core, well-prepared support group if you have a handicap – and the extreme importance of having something to contribute to the survival of the group so they have additional motivation to help you survive."

Wife and I are seriously discussing a commune or in modern language, "intentional community," probably with other sick people and to help homeless (today) and refugees (when the fecal matter hits the rotating blade element). We realize that's some serious, back-breaking, make-you-want-to-cry work, and are definitely praying about it. We know that if we're to do this, we'll be strengthened to meet the need. Google George Mueller and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Tonight, got my second T shot, felt not just normal but GREAT! Like, wanting to race cars and shoot stuff (TARGETS! I promise!) ;)

Haven't felt that way in a LONG time. Don't know what tomorrrow will bring but as for tonight I'm thanking Jesus and enjoying it.

I missed what a "T shot" is... Thyroid?

Glad to hear you're doing better!

Here's one more idea if you need more ideas to try: Get a prescription for antibiotics. Normally I wouldn't suggest anyone take the stuff, but there are instances of infection you may have no idea are present. "Beast" seems to be one example with the ingrown hair, and I am another.

If your symptoms go away for a week or two after completing your antibiotics, then you'll need to start digging into the root cause -- mine was dental-related, and I've heard a high percentage are.

Hispeed mentioned that many here don't trust "regular" medicine, which is true for me to the extent that they are limited in their practice to a set procedures. Many of those procedures work, so that must be kept in mind before disapproving of them as a whole. Those "procedures" keep away the lawsuits but stifle innovation.

I have a long, long story that is a monument to many doctors not being able to look beyond their specialization. After several years of failed searching, a dentist (or all things) told me exactly what my ailment was. But this dentist isn't a normal one; he spends many weekends studying and learning new things with a handful of other medical-types (rather than cruising around in a yacht). I owe a lot to that guy.

    Keep us updated!

Testosterone. Don't know if I'll be OK tomorrow. One day at a time.

Good for you! Interesting way to get healed I must say. Yeah, "regular" medicine didn't work for me, now I'm going the alternative route. I'll try to keep your advice in mind.

What would you do if tomorrow you were back to tired and never got healed again? What would your strategy be?
  15. NVBeav

I had a big clue with antibiotics that I didn't pay attention to for a couple years. Part of the problem was trying too many things at one time - couldn't really say which was helping.

You have a big clue with the T, but that is just fixing up the symptoms. What's causing your T to drop? High blood sugar? What's causing that? -- for me it was an infection, and others it's a lifetime of unhealthy food they can't make themselves stop eating.

My next experiment I was hoping to try was a 3-day fast (or more if I could actually make it past 1 or 2), and then stay on a low carbohydrate diet. It's helped in the past by staying away from "fast" carbs as much as possible, and my energy level went way up.

I have some other ideas but no time right now to expound.

It's just one of those things - "Never, never, never give up." (Churchill)

Depression and motivation issues: make lists. Check things off one by one. Being methodical is your saving grace when overly tired. As a scuba diver, as an emergency worker, as a military vet, every experience I've ever had with fatigue says that being methodical is your safety strategy for that or even oxygen deprivation.

"Never give up, and Never surrender"...( I like that saying!) I was born with a heart murmur and should have died at the age of 9! That's when I had my first heart attack. At 6, I had dentures!
I just tuned 60 a few days ago....(I beat the doctors!)
FYI: I have PTSD, I have degenerative joint disease, and both siatica nerves are crushed in my hip sockets. I am inoperable.
I was diagnosed with bi-polar manic depression along with everything else...
I went from a very hyper active young adult, to a non functioning person in just weeks...I went from a cane then on to those "polio" types of crutches, then a walker with the wheels and tennis balls...
I even had to have a shower chair.
    Then, it got worse.
I still have and will keep my 2 wheelchairs....!
One day, I said enough is enough and I tossed all the pills and got up out of the wheelchair, and back to the "sticks', then a cane, and now I am FREE of all of them. It is NOT instant, not by ANY means. It's hard.
A positive mental attitude is an absolute must!
I could not quit, I never could, and anyone can do whatever they desire, IF they truly desire it hard and serious enough.
People that know me cannot believe what I have managed to overcome, even the staggering pains that had me on methadone and morphine. I take nothing for pain today. I eat right and I exercise as I am able. Just 3 days ago, I chose to walk instead of drive to the hardware store, 1 1/2 miles away, in the Phoenx heat. That was one tough road to get thru! BUT, I made it....!
You MUST have a reason to overcome the obstacles which life throws at you. It can be done, I'm proof of that! I am no kid and things are harder today than 30 years ago. BUT, if I feel like climbing a mountain, I will do it. When I want to go places, I go, alone. No fear or pain anymore, as I have learned to get passed it all. I was told by a neurologist that it was imperative to get up and walk again, to get used to the pain and live...The choice was clear...
OR, I would be fitted with a colostomy bag and a condom catheter, and die a terrible, slow, and painful death.
    Not my cup of tea!
I will not lie to you... I cried, I screamed, and GOD and I had a few talks, I can tell you that! It was up to me. No one else could do it for me. I am by no means an athlete, but I do things like out climb a hill, up and down, and beat the crap out of 2 teenage boys! And...I am "disabled".
I have 8 children and had a reason to show them what can be done, IF you really want it to happen!
I wish you all the best and hope you can OVERCOME the obstacles, and get to where you wish to be...I know it can be done.
    Good luck!

Wow, this thread is the first hit on Google when you search SHTF fatigue.

Back to being tired all the time. More diagnoses have been added since my last visit here... I am ALL screwed up.

Sorry, I can't claim Isaiah 53:4-5 for physical healing. I tried to, I wanted to, I hoped I could, but I can't with a clear conscience.

I found an article called "10 Reasons Why Isaiah's Prophecy Refers To Physical Healing." After meditating deeply on the verses plus context, and considering his ten reasons, I wrote the following.
deVidal.BlogSpot.com: 10 Reasons Why Isaiah's Prophecy Probably Doesn't Refer To Physical Healing

But I do talk to God, and count on other promises like "My God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory." (Phil 4)

Because healing is a need for my family's survival, and because I can see no other way out of this mess other than a miracle, I am expecting healing in the nick of time. I'm counting on the promise of healing, but not based on Isaiah 53:4-5.

I've seen others miraculously healed, and I know this great God personally, but I also know He has a free will. So I will wait for His promise.

The Lord is good to those who wait for him,
to the soul who seeks him.
It is good that one should wait quietly
for the salvation of the Lord.
    (Lamentations 3:25-26 ESV)

    but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
    they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
    they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.
    (Isaiah 40:31 ESV)

The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble. He knows those who take refuge in Him.
    (Nahum 1:7)
