There's a man up north of AshFork Arizona, that recently bought a piece of land... ( borrowed the funds from family!) He paid $5,000.00 for 2.27 acres... He had it surveyed for another $600.00... He put in 4 sides of 4 & 5 strand barbed wire fences, with "T" posts and 10 inch logs, plus renting a bobcat with an auger to drill the holes.... He bought a 2600 gallon water tanks and plumbing and pump... He added a septic system..... He has a propane water heater tank, refrigerator, stove and added a wood burning stove... He put in a 400 watt wind generator with a 40 ft. tower, that is collapsible ( for high wind conditions) He has 2 solar systems: 1-150 watt system of 2 panels, and 1- 160 watt panel, and 4 deep cycle marine batteries... He wired it all through the 12 x 60 mobile homes breaker box, with separate connections for 1 of his 3 generators, and all have separate invertors.... He installed a 5/8 wave ground plane, CB/10 meter 2500 watt antenna at 40 feet. He installed a scanner (discone) antenna that is a big sucker! 4 ft high and 3 ft. wide, on a 30 ft mast. All set up, and has 2 driveway alert units, double 10 ft gates with 1/2 inch aricraft cable wrapped around them, with a massive Master padlock for security. He is considering installing 4 separate "beam" units for inside the fencing...( zone system) North, south, east and west. He installed 5 ft. height "ranch style" fencing around the main area of the interior of the property, for his 3 dogs to run in. So for the $20k, he bought land, a "used" mobile home, locally ( $2,500) moved it for $600, and all the rest, for less than the original $20k. Now he is looking at buying 4 deep cycle ( cart type batteries) in 6 volt, and wiring them up to his system as well! Not too bad for a NEWBIE to survival!
Sounds like a great setup. Growing prickling bush might help a bit also, maybe outside the fence line...big thorns. Only bad thing is the trailer isn't bulletproof.
Definitely need to consider the natural barriers as Brokor suggests. The more you can grow the landscape up the better it'll blend in and look like less of a 'compound' as ghrit suggests. There are so many prickly things that grow quite well in your AO too. Byte
Plant wide thorn bush all around the property and cover the mobile home with iron plates and concrete canvas on the top...missile proof!...
I would set up totem poles and hang bones from them. Set human skulls (you can purchase these online) in clear sight. Make up stories and have the rumor spread about witchcraft and curses. Dig large holes and leave them empty...and place tombstones at the front of each. Record frightening sounds and play them late at night, creepy noises, not music --an occasional scream. Possibly a fog machine or 30. A vicious pack of dogs roaming the property lined with barbed wire and signs with "blood" stains on them. Take a sheet of aluminum or tin and shake it to create thunder once in a while. Hold "ceremonies" late on a full moon and scream and howl into the night. Dress up like a zombie or a ghoul to frighten off trespassers. And when TSHTF, if anybody is brazen enough to come around, set up trip flares and wait in your sniper position.
Ahhh,... a man that knows me all too well! ( If'n I dood it, I get's a whoopin', but I dood it anyway!) I like the sound effects, seen what they can do to people, esecially in the dark of night...! Maybe a propane or acetylene fired machine gun or 2, like we had for training overseas? A few really nice bright red and brilliant white ( 100,000 cp) flares, set off by command! Trip flares optional! Yeah, that would scare the pantyhose right off a few of those locals! Go get some cows heads and skeletal remains and scatter them around the yard! See what you've done? Now I'm all excited! Now I need a recording of a panther screming at night, and some really nice loud speakers....... Oh boy...I can hardly wait to get started on this stuff! Maybe toss in a few heavy duty smoke bombs, mil grade...... Nice touch!
LOL...and find Michael Jackson impersonator (or dig him up..) to do the zombie dance in the full moonlight...
I just love they way you all think. . It makes me believe I might even be normal mentally. . Come right in folks, welcome to the land of the lost! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ........
Hehehe...lost? How can we be lost?! We are preppers and survivalists here!...We all have compasses and know how to read maps and stuff!....That does not mean that we are necessarily sane, but hey!...insanity is close to divinity!....
