    Radius Engeering

Radius underground shelters are in their 32nd year of service. They are designed and developed by Walton W. McCarthy, M.E., author of PRINCIPLES of PROTECTION, U.S. Handbook of NBC Weapon Fundamentals and Shelter Engineering Standards, Fifth Edition, 2000, which is the United State's bible on shelter engineering. Mr. McCarthy is the principle engineer of RADIUS ENGINEERING, INC. and the leading expert designing 'high-tech' WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction) shelters. Radius underground WMD shelters are totally self-contained structural fiberglass high pressure structures designed to protect 8-200 adults for 6 months to 5 years. Multiple shelters can be connected into underground communities. The shelters are specifically designed and developed to protect people during and after disasters such as tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, firestorms, power failures, nuclear & chemical accidents, nuclear, biological, & chemical terrorism, and full-scale protracted nuclear, chemical and biological war. The smaller shelters come preassembled while the larger ones are shipped in pieces and assembled on site. The shelters that are assembled on site provide a shell for a free-standing apartment house while the preassembled shelters come complete with everything built in. Both types of shelters have all required life support systems. Radius shelters are used throughout the world to protect people for Business Contingency Plans (BCP's) in military, medical, corporate markets and Family Contingency Plans (FCP) for families.

State Of The Art Underground Shelter Systems

The management team leading Radius Engineering International Inc. into the fast paced and growing world of the shelter protection industry is comprised of highly skilled, experienced professionals dedicated and totally focused on establishing and maintaining leadership in the industry. But it takes more than a dedicated and experienced management team. It takes the skill, commitment and teamwork of every member of the Radius team, from the Board of Directors to our office administrator, fiberglass technicians and financial team. They are, in the final analysis, the people who power our drive for lasting customer satisfaction, sustained financial performance and increasing shareholder value.

What? 2 air intakes? Notice how it doesn't say it protects you from floods or the baddies with a couple of really big trash pumps from pulling a garden hose vs. ground squirrel maneuver on you.

Living underground , Air Intakes are your weakest links in my opinion.

Anyway, I'd like the network infrastructure contract.

I don't see an awful lot of storage area for the private shelters...

Though I guess short-term would be workable.

For those who think I my offer is based on the cheap, no can do. Not everyone can drink beer the way I do as payment.

Prior to this post, I have never considered anything like Bit-Beer. Interesting concept. Just don't know how to actually get the payment down my throat.

Perhaps Western Union can have a spin-off company that has a presence in all bars: I pay you for services and you get a receipt that you can take to any bar and redeem with your choice of libation. However, if you choose the new .gov beer offering "Uncle Scam," you get 2 for 1 and it has vitamins to keep the boozers on SSDI healthy(er).

Hehe, that is interesting. I wonder what the cost for something that keeps 15 people would cost. Is there a such thing as a above ground nuke a bio safe shelter?

If I were to build something under ground I think the ideal place would be up high on a mountain or hill with good water run off and then bury it in the ground for protection with one entrance inside your house.

Air vents are probably the biggest worry, maybe something tall and hidden and more than a few, but then each one has to be filtered for outside contaminants.

You build Air Intakes to look like local Dead Trees, with the intakes up at about 30Ft.... with Multiple Intakes to feed the shelter.... Air Exhausts should be built into the Below Grade Drain Field, and push the Old Air out, dissolved in the water from the sump Drain. Same for the Exhaust from the Diesel Genset, that powers the shelter. You build a multiple chamber Muffler and feeds an underground Drain Field that disperses the Exhaust Gasses, into a Pea Gravel Bed, that has significant ground water movement thru it.
