Is Prepping Selfish?

That goes right along with the phrase "You're being mean!". It means what ever is in the person's mind that is trying to control you.

Just like the text message I just received and the one I just blocked!

 

No doubt about it, I'm definitely tribal!

 

Choosing to be generous is my choice .

This thread makes me think about HOA's. One of our Monkey's wrote a book and things had collapsed and the HOA decided to take charge of things n one neighborhood. Pooling, sharing and everyone giving all they have and things will be divided. That is what will happen in many neighborhoods if things go South. Now if you live in an organized neighborhood or and HOA, chances are you will be asked to bring forth all your food and medicines. If you don't you will be labeled as selfish and they will probably want to take all your supplies. I can't imagine a neighborhood declaring everyone take care of yourselves and as a community we will have a garden and do security. I feel a neighborhood especially at first, people will demand sharing.

 

while I can see this as sorta good I come up with some problems... WHO is keeping an eye on the supplies?

and who watches the watchers... such a system could be easily be super abused...

the supplies could be horded and the watchers could take advantage for themselves and their families first!

I'm thinkin the haves should keep what they have but if someone that has nothing should be in need they can apply for help through the community...

and what they get could be, provided they are able... paid for in work... like helping with gardens..

although they would have to be watched with such... or construction of some sort maybe...

and then their home/living area gets inspected... and if what they claim they need is absent THEN help is given...

sorry I'm old and seen too much I guess... it is not that I would be uncaring or not help others...

but IMHO if some over weight individual starts screaming about they're starving and want what I have...

I would not deny them so much... BUT I would share... less... with such folk... until they lost weight...

and even then... would keep a close eye on em... have seen some over weight folks eat...

and seen em eat a lot and NOT share very much with their own families...

so ya share but share with certain strings attached... too many currently abuse the system for all they can get...

thinkin such will so the same to any community they are in or become part of...

so yes share but do it with your eyes open and NOT start some kinda communistic/socialistic put everything under small groups control!!!

they come and say they need all your food and ammo and guns... share equally kind thing... perhaps with an or else...

thinkin I will probably die right there...

they may get em anyways but it will not be cheap or easy... if they leave me in peace and allow me to look and see...

then cool... I will help as I can... hmm... perhaps I need to find a like minded community?
