Kerosene - storage life experiments

    At 0530 the mantles had less black spot, and the pressure had dropped, along with the temperature.

    It was 35 degrees.

    Tip cleaner did nothing, this was a low pressure/low fuel issue, but it did brighten with pressure and clearly shows no increase in black spotting.

    Conclusion: Old kerosene in mantle lamps can be problematic. These problems can be reduced by using an Amish mix and adding 20-25 percent white gas to the old kerosene.
