I've moved more times than I'd like to admit in the past and I spent the past weekend digging through a storage unit I'm using for all our "overflow" preps. I found this lil'gem I put away thirty years ago and then forgot about.

My my faithful Optimus 199 multi-fuel stove, which accompanied me all through the Whites, Adirondacks and Catskills during my youth. I'd given it up for lost decades ago. I opened up the stove and found all the bits & pieces inside.

I’ve got everything except the cleaning wire for the orifice but that shouldn’t be an issue its easy enough to fabricate one.

I have many fond memories of my lil’ stove chugging away with its signature WWHHhhhoooosssSSHH and want to breath life back into this once again.

    Maybe a graphite-based lubricant....I'm not expert, though.

I used to have one kind of like this, issued by Uncle Sam; came in a two-piece cylindrical container. Would love to have it again.

Time for a penetrating oil soak and new seals.

ETA: Thread is pic heavy, so edited the thread title to reflect that.

Thrust or PB blaster would free it. Also Automatic Transmission Fluid (atf) is high in detergent and if something is soaked in atf it tends to work it's way free.

Yeah sorry about the size of the pics...

I was hoping not to have to replace the seals in the pump but I guess that's hoping for too much.

Thirty years in storage is a long time.

Thats a great little stove. my personal preference was the Svea 123. I think it is from sweden. I still have a couple of them. Need to get my shop built so I can go through all my storage boxes and get things organized.

Yup this is the one in aluminum and designed to save Hikers some more weight. Now I use Ti pots, found on the cheap at auctions and junk shops.

BTW, you can still purchase Kerosene burner tps for the 8R.
