Yesterday we heard screams from up towards the dirt road... Ends up being that the mailman, was trying to call for help as he had slid off the road in his truck, while trying to avoid a downed tree. My family and I have got a smallish childrens sled, and loaded it down with what we needed (chains, come-a-long, chainsaw & etc) as we couldn't get our truck out there to pull him out. We live in the middle of the backwoods, have a very looooong driveway, and had 2 farm gates which were frozen to the ground with layers and layers of sleet/ice/snow... so that just wasn't an option. When we get there we see that the mailman was only wearing joggin' pants/ a hooded sweatshirt (no coat) and he was so cold that his lips were frozen and he could barely even speak properly. He also said that he forgot his gloves, and had been trying to dig out his tires with his bare hands!!!! Daughter and I brought him some homemade cookies and hot coffee to warm him up. It amazes me how "UNPREPARED" people are in this world?!?!?!?! Geesh, the mailman is lucky that he didn't end up slidin' further down the road, over the rock bridge and into the creek which runs across our property... or turned into a "HUMAN-POPSICKLE"!?!?! But anyway, while we were out on our mission (lol) I snapped up a few pics to share (below): Views of the creek from the rock bridge (above and below) "Headin' fer home down our long backwoods tree-lined driveway..." "Home Sweet Backwoods Home" (below pic) I guess that's all for now... Just thought I'd share in our lil' family adventure, which we had yesterday! Today the temps have heated up and our WINTER WONDERLAND is MELTING! Boo Hoo Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!! ~W~ P.S.- Btw, wish us luck... in a bit we shall attempt to drive out/head to work. OGM, just came in and told me that it's lookin' pretty "SLICK" out there!?
You may have destroyed the future.... Didn't you guys see The Postman? Now where is Kevin Costner supposed to get his uniform???
Thanks for caring Tracy... we've done just fine & are still alive!lol Hubbie is good at driving under these kinda conditions. We've still got several inches of ice, but with the temps. slightly rising/rain yesterday now we are under a FLOOD WARNING. Our creek (which runs through our backwoods farm) is roaring. Sounds/looks so beautiful!!! ~W~
