This system was brought to my attention for possible installtion on one of our 150kw set's offshore. We are looking at this very hard... For The Monkey Review....What do you think??? Altronic Inc.
If you have an ng source on the platform, it might be made to work. That arrangement is designed for a stationary engine set up, and I ain't so sure you can call a platform fixed. Now, if you can get CNG or LNG on the platform at pipeline pressure, then you may be able to take advantage. Bear in mind that the arrangement will require either a pressure reducing station (for CNG) or a regasification skid (for CNG.) Additionally, you'll face some safety issues with a second fuel on the rig. Crunch the numbers, that's the only way to find out if you can make it work economically.
Our production platform's are classified as ''islands''.We have natural gas well's flowing to us and we reduce the flowing pressure through a system of regulator's down to ounce's...Pretty much set up.. Keep in mind that we maintain a natural gas generator as our primary unit and next to this is the diesel standby...Boat transportation cost however run our diesel cost high.
