It has a good cast and hopefully gives a fairly realistic portrayal. Release is planned for 2018.

It stars Kevin Sorbo, Mollee Gray, Brian Bosworth, and Erid Roberts

"The collapse of the dollar precipitates widespread rioting and social unrest across the nation, leaving a lovesick girl struggling to care for her siblings in a stretch of woods bordered by lawless anarchy, wondering why a good God would let this happen."

Wondered, with so many prepping and folks worrying about one catastrophe or another; how long it would take Hokkywood to do another SHTF movie... I'll watch this one, though! :D

    Oooh! There's a book:

"When the dollar collapses, widespread rioting and looting threaten the peace of a family in Zanesville, Ohio. Eight children tragically lose their parents in the chaos. The oldest, 19-year-old lovesick Sophie, is forced to care for her defenseless and hungry siblings in a stretch of woods surrounded by lawless anarchy. Their father has been killed, and their mother and Adam, Sophie’s fiancé, have gone missing. Running out of food and facing threats from encroaching marauders, they are tempted to doubt God’s love.

When Sophie discovers her fiancé has resorted to looting to survive, she cannot bring herself to forgive him, however hard he tries to make amends. Must he sacrifice everything to win her back?

When they capture a thief, they learn the attack on their home was no random act of violence. Torn between justice and mercy, with their allies turning against them, their faith is heated in the fire.

Will God answer their prayers and deliver them, or must their faith remain blind to facts?"

I am tempted to read the book due to just reading about the author. Interesting guy. I don't think I would agree with some of his politics or beliefs but definitely interesting. The price is $6 btw, the goldilocks spot, not too much, not too little...

    Dr. Patrick Johnston
"J.P. and Elizabeth Johnston reside in central Ohio with their ten home-schooled children. Dr. Johnston is a family practice physician and the founder of the Association of Pro-life Physicians ( Dr. Johnston has authored ten novels and has written and produced a movie THE RELIANT, starring Kevin Sorbo, Brian Bosworth, and Eric Roberts, and due in theaters in 2018. He and his wife, Elizabeth (AKA "The Activist Mommy), have a passion for strong families, restored marriages, Christian education, revival in the church, and a return to biblical thinking and practice."

    "About the Author:
Patrick Johnston is a family practice physician and a Christian evangelist who dreams of a Christian nation. He is founder of the Association of Pro-Life Physicians and the Coalition to Reform Education Funding, and he is the father of seven home-schooled children and his wife Elizabeth are committed to revival in the church and the restoration of biblical law and constitutional government in America. The Revolt of 2020 is the first novel of a series exploring the tension between liberty, tyranny, and godly resistance."

Biblical law is between me and my maker - restoration of Constitutional Government is essential to the US remaining a sovereign and free republic. I believe in "rendering unto Caesar what is Caesar's and rendering unto God what is God's".

I'm good with that. No complaints or even comments from me... Like I said, I think he is sort of interesting being a doctor with 7 children, leader of an association, author and now a producer...makes me know how lazy I am and here I thought I was overworked! LOL!

I wonder if that is the movie that has been filmed here in N Idaho this summer.

It's set in Ohio and an article written by the lady who did the casting implies it was shot there. I'd really like to know what the Idaho movie was.

    Will ask around and see.
One that was shot here and N. E. Washington, that I can think of, was the Postman.. I really didn't care for that flick but the setting was good. Looked like home.

Seeing Kevin Sorbo in the cast list is a bit of a turn off. His acting range is something that a carpenter and joiner couldn't fix, let alone a director. The film seems to be less about how survivors get through a WROL environment, than theodicy, and the usual run of Christian apologetics. I'm betting for villains, that the usual suspects will be atheists, secular humanists, satanists, and non Southern Baptist backsliders.

I guess that there will be enough gun porn for some here at SM to find titillating when they see the film. For me, I'll probably wait until it comes out on DVD at a thrift shop. I'm confident that it won't even make it to art house cinemas in Oz....

There won't be enough gratuitous sex to keep it in theaters, and it may go direct to DVD or cable. You may not get why or how many people rely on faith during dark times, but then again I don't get Vegemite.

Brian Bosworth ??? Give the world a Break.... This loser couldn't act if his life depended on it.... He is a Muscle-bound ex-Footballer that couldn't make it in the NFL and then went into acting, and stunk at that, as well... They must have needed a "Hunk" and no one else would join the cast....

Looks like he's been off the rhoids at least. Not my favorite guy after his underperforming presence caused Fredd Young to part with the Seahawks. I'll be watching this film in spite of him.

I understand, why some folk rely on their (religious/spiritual) 'faith' to help them get through adversity and dark times, but I'm getting the impression that the film has less to do with that, than explaining away 'the problem of evil'.....

The keynote soliloquy is from the dude who shouts....(at Sophie)..."leave me alone"..."Who is responsible for it huh?"..."Who is responsible? You know who? God is!!! (blat, blat, blat...firing an AR into the sky) God is responsible!!! (more blat, blat blatting into the sky)

The Trailer, blurb says "this is a book that comes out once in a generation", and I'm thinking, thank goodness for that; any more frequently would be cruel and unusual punishment for humanity.

For belief in a supernatural entity is necessary to make sense of, or meet the challenges of dark times, or difficult moments in my own life. The stoics, and existentialists meet those needs gods are required.

It's the kind of masochistic self abuse I'd try hard to avoid. ;)

It's OK Chello, I understand some people don't accept what they can't measure or touch, also that others are unable to accept that there is something greater than humanity, and even those who can't accept that there is anything greater than themselves. Though I had a few religious experiences growing up I allowed others to convince me that they were my imagination or strange dreams. I was also troubled by the hypocrisy shown by many organized religions, and thus held views similar to your own.

Finally the Big Guy decided enough was enough and spelled it out for me. Because of my skeptical nature He gave me specific knowledge of three events, one taking place at that very moment literally on the other side of the world (1980 so no instant comms or news) and two that were yet to come and when they would happen. Everything indeed was exactly as I was told. Now, this is personal evidence and I don't expect others to be convinced or change their minds based on my experience. It's actually been very liberating, and when I pay attention His guidance is always there. While I do not seek hardship or death I also do not fear them.

I'm not interested in debate, just letting you know that there is a flip side to the coin.

@3M-TA3 That is how Personal Revelation works... Direct from God, Secifically for You, and noone else... Cherish those moments, as they are precious to both You & Your God....

Movie filmed in this AO is called "Radio Flash". A post EMP event story. Due out in Nov. I am told.

I have NO affiliation with this film. I just happen to run across them filming in an odd spot.

If there is to be a debate, the F&R, or The Inferno forums are probably better places for that than this thread.

They may be sides of quite different epistemological coins, of different value.
