Well 2014 is upon us and the calendar turns the page on it's steady march into the future.
What beholds us in the coming year, couple of years, decade.... one can only guess.
As a group intent on surviving through the thick of whatever encounters us in the coming year,
what are you doing to be better prepared? Do you have a fun project that is planned,
are you striving to add to your supplies a little at a time due to the economics of your situation,
have you reached that ultimate prepared plateau (liar) or do you have modest plans that enhance
    your home, security or training?
The coming year for me has several planned items:
    • Starting the Primal plan next week... time to get my physical self back in line with where it should be.
    • Enhancing my communications with getting my hamm license secured and moving towards long range comm's capability with the proper equipment.
    • Adding to body armor for the team.
    • Selling my suburban dwelling and moving to a permanent BOL location (of course that new location will have a new list of improvements to be self-substaining).
Anyways- what is in your plan that has you looking forward...? Looking to the past is a waste of time, we grow in knowledge andchange in our methods as we learn...don't stand still.

I plan on adding more (OPSEC), perhaps acquire a little (OPSEC), then get a (OPSEC) for the collection and plan a move to (OPSEC) if funds permit me. Above all, survive Obamacare taxation and any other draconian legislation to come our way, which will be a certainty. If only the ammo would come back to store shelves, folks might believe things were getting back to normal. Sure am glad I planned ahead, years ago.

    Some things changing this year:
    • Making my own tooth powder. No more need to buy Tom's when organic, dried tooth powder works perfectly.
    • Making my own bulk clothing detergent.
    • Continuing to add to the freeze dried supplies and use up canned goods to allow for longer storage and ease of transport.
    • I will make my kumquat tree productive and healthy.

I don't understand how u get the OPSEC in the mason jar?
You need a new GF more than all that OPSEC.
If you don't have 2+ kids...the government wins.

    Just sayin'

    1. Finishing my root cellar
    2. Getting if not a greenhouse built, then more raised beds and some cold frames
    3. Upgrading our water storage
    4. Expanding our fruit/nut tree collection
    5. Making sure there is no less than 5lbs of some kind of chocolately goodness in the house at all times
    6. Get rid of junk(and not only junk, gonna try and reduce my wardrobe to 5 each of jeans, shorts, sweaters/sweatshirts, tshirts, etc. We have lots of fabric to make new stuff anyways. Can donate the castoffs to those who need it.).
    7. Advance my crocheting skills(I am only a newbie, I can do the basic chain stitch and that's it)
    8. Switch a less processed diet.
    9. Learn how to cook with the cast iron cookware on the woodstove.
    10. Get my passport renewed(whenever you're asked for I.D. that includes picture I.D. and birth certificate, a passport is considered both), it expired last year.
    11. Find the chalkboard to keep a running tab of our supplies at all times.
    12. Stock up on off-grid supplies, like Lehman's oil lamps. Not kerosene, the cooking oil lamps.
    13. Expand my entertainment collection(DVDs and games).
    14. Expand my homesteading book collection(though I'm close to thinking I have almost all I want. And now having said that, I'm sure more books will pop up that I HAVE to have!).
    15. Fix the chicken coop roof(and probably get a few more chicks this year, our older hens have stopped laying).
    16. Switch to homemade pet food for our 4leggers.
    17. Expand our home medicine cabinet supplies.
    18. Get all the crap outta the woodshed so it can be used as a woodshed again.
    19. Learn more foreign languages.
    20. Redecorate my room.
    I think that's enough for now o_O

My goal for Jan-March is to streamline and simplify:

    - get unto better physical shape and clean up my eating
    - stop all nice to have spending this year
    - clean out garage and sell stuff so I can use garage for working on vehicles
    - strip down satellite service and Internet browsing and do more book reading and fixit projects

I am concerned our economy is close to failing and my corporate job may not be there sometime. Going to simplify, put even more into cash on hand savings, and get monthly spending greatly reduced. Once I get the reduce and simplify stuff done then I am going to work on alternate income ideas.

Getting rid of debt is number one on the list for my family....
Forgot to mention that as a goal for next year, that but very important to not owe anyone moving forward in these tough economic times.
