It's not easy to find these days, but there is still real white cotton clothes line for sale. The latest roll I found had a skinny nylon core, but I just grabbed it once the wick was cut to length and pulled it out.

I'm finding that I much prefer a couple of these, either designed for, or converted to kerosene, with a 15-20% tiki oil mix.

Not everyone has a backyard or a fire pit, so an oil drain pan (clean, of course) and a dutch oven - BAM
    backyard cooking....

SOMEWHERE out there is a lo speed hi drag individual that will try that trick with a plastic drain pan.

Haha...my older brothers thought it would be nice to aggravate me with those when I was about 6 or 7. They didn't expect successful completion. :D

those of us that are of a certain age (koff koff old farts koff) remember the old 'cocktail olive' jars, like the jar above - tall, thin and fairly thick glass.

Oddly, you can crack several eggs into the jar for use while camping. No checked shells and very little space.

Still need to keep cold, but the eggs are protected by the glass.

making arowheads from bottoms of beer bottles. Real-deal EOTWAWKIT skills here. (OK, just normal knapping) and these look cool, even if you don't have a bow.

OK, you need a bow? A piece of PVC pipe some driveway markers and some cordage.

Not just a recycle/upcycle of common items, this qualifies as an Urban Hack.

I'm a bit more than slightly suspicious that the new breed has no clue where to find a spool --

two liter bottle for a 'drip' irrigation system. Place cut off part (inverted) on open end after filling to keep debris out. (See potatoes on bucket for a possible use)

or use a siphon and drip system. For those long weekends away - and the plants that need regular watering.

OK, you you want an early start but for only a few plants (no yard, just a small balcony or one of those Townhouse tiny grass squares inside a fence).

Make a few little 'greenhouses' out of 2 L soda bottles

    Here's how (<mash here>)

in the ground, cut off bottom, leave top open

some string and a vertical space with some sunlight. No pots needed and you can tell at a glace how damp the soil is - and if watering is required. Great for kids.
