I have a cabin in NE MN. Well water stunk like a skunk. Lots of sulphur, and iron in the water...we're just off the Iron Range, after all.

Installed an Express water whole house heavy metals water filter. It has 3 filters and the water now tests for zero contaminants and has no smell, and is as pure as you can get it. As I recall, it cost about $400 and replacement filters (100k gallons) are $165. They have their own web site or you can find it on Amazon. OBTW, just to be sure, installed a UV sterilizer on it, too.

i have a 1,000 gal tank i got on guberment auction. 150.00 it had some leaves and was trailer mounted and they sold the trailer separate. thats ok as i plan on burying about 2/3. it had some leaves in it but didnt smell like fertilizer. after i power wash it clean il shock it with bleach, then drain it and fill it and test the water.dishs, laundry, toilet. i also have 2-150 gal greer poly tanks that i fill from 3 55gl plastic drums by truck/van. gub auction is hit or miss but ocasionally a good deal can be found. probably better deals down there then in ak.

this is my laundry room in the box truck. i put a 150gl greer tank and 5.8 cu washer and 9cu dryer on top of a 1,000gl stainless steel fuel tank. 12v sure flow pump and a filter on the tank fill. been using it about 3 years now. the pics are from the install. i have not installed the precisiontemp M550-EC Tankless Water Heater for laundry yet. awesome 12v propane demand water heater. i have used one in the bus since 2008. not cheap about 1600$ but the bus worked so well i got one for laundry room.

i have the same tank, pump, water heater set up in the bus since 2008 for shower, dishes, sink.

I'd recommend checking the garage floor's load capacity first—5,000 gallons is around 41,700 lbs, so you might need reinforcement. Also, look into NSF-certified tanks and a good pump system. Good luck!

I've already told him about the concrete lack of strength to carry that load.
But ,, he's actually had his job wanting to transfer him to the other side of Texas,, so he'll be selling out ,, and it'll be someone else's problem,, but he may put in the filters to just help prospective new buyers feel better about the situation.
But thank you all for your input .

GOOD! That's the quickest way out of that problem. I wouldn't live in that neighborhood if they GAVE me a house for several reasons: #1- HOA, #2-Lack of water, #3-Too many people, and #4-West Texas (nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there).

when i read about m9ving to Alaska i was excited that 2% of the land is private.
after i got here i realized 90% of the population lives on that 2%.

I'm not a Texas dweller. I liked the West Texas area he is in ,, Midland area,, but I was only there for about 2 weeks,, but now he's going to Houston,, which is a big city , which is not one of my preferences. The hell with them big cities. But he did day he's gonna try and get away from the populated areas.
It's his life,, not mine . He'll be OK.

As an experiment I added just an ounce of colloidal silver to several bottles of stored water to see how it would do, I was pleasantly supersized that after years of storage it still tasted fine.
