    Good reason! [emoji6]

Your spiked stick might be a better deterrent than your pistol.

Kinda depends, if you surprise an intruder try to scare him by brandishing something big and threatening, I would not suggest the teacup unless you happen to look like Vin Diesel. Great name. The reason is he is going to react instantly either flight or fight. You want flight. If you are attacked you want to cause pain or trauma. Hopefully both. Having something to throw helps so you gain a second to grab something while he is ducking. A lot depends on how determined, drugged and violent your attacker is. And his skills. You might want to think blunt force trauma, a wooden bat, hammer, short chain with a weight, axe handle or axe. A large knife is great but if you stab someone they can kill you before they die unless you can hit the heart. I like a short spear but it takes training. If someone he attacks he probably thinks he can overpower you, once he makes that decision you have to change his mind or beat him. Unless you are armed and trained and determined you have a big problem. You have to have a plan and not hesitate. Also some weapons can be more trouble than they are worth in defense. Noisemakers and sprays might be just enough to deter, but have a back up.

Good idea. For the intruder without shoes. A squeaky toy mixed in might do more good.

A piece of rope can be quite useful, close in, to block, bind, trip, flail, lock a door, garrot, use as a fuse.
Wire, with a pair or small wood rods (piano, guitar, fence wire,) has been used to garrot since WW1 or before.
Bolos have been used to hunt, and a weighted silk stocking would whip around a throat to be pulled tight, faster than thought.
A rope about 6' long, with a large nut or bolt tied to the end could do some serious damage.
Spare lawn mower blades, and a roll of duct tape, and you have a few machetes.
A vacuum cleaner power cord, a broom handle, and a metal coat hanger, some tape and wire cutters, and you have a very nasty cattle prod that can kill if spiked. Use electricity to guard a door as well, with one wire wrapped around the door knob, and the other waiting for someone to walk through the doorway. A rat trap, at neck height just inside the door with the second bare wire 18"-24", and tried by the door opening, would be quite nasty.

So I guess this thread isn't about the .45 in the side table or the 12 ga. over the front door or the 9mm in the kitchen cupboard (holster velcro'd to the door) or the, you mean "mundane" items. :D

And no, I don't actually have those.

Well ... We don't have children in the house and when the grand kids are coming, we re-arrange a bit for safety. As far as your list above...other than the 12 gauge above the door (actually in the closet 15 ft. from the front door) X 2 in actuality. ;)
