I'm in an office setting with where I have to wear dress pants everyday. I already carry a fairly hefty blade (Kershaw Blur) so for the multi-tool I carry a Leatherman Squirt PS4. It works great, and doesn't take up pocket real estate.

Ive been eyeballing the Leatherman Cam figure a guy can find a way to clip it onto your quiver and with the ,hex bit broadhead wrench and sharpener could be handy in a pinch in the field. Also bet you could add couple off different sized hex bits to round off your kit have the right bits to do some minor field repairs

I like the SwissTool, but grew up playing with sticks and string... the ultimate multitool set!

Here's an example of using your "multitool";) IMG_20130521_153103_362. IMG_20130521_152819_388. IMG_20130521_194853_278.

My family was poor. Those were some of my favorite toys. And tape. You'd be surprised what you can make with sticks and string and tape and whatever else you could find. Made my first football out of scrap paper and tape. Worked pretty well too. Only limit is your imagination. Add in the old box and blanket and man, I was all set to go.

But think about it, in a survival situation, sticks and string will be some of my best friends. Walking stick, digging stick, rabbit stick, hammer, spear, bow and arrow, shelter, traps, fishing pole... and a whole bunch of stuff I probably never even thought of yet. And if you add stones, man! Can break your bones...

I used the old grade school scissors to make double ended throwing "knives." They worked really well.

My first multitool was a Victorinox Huntsman, after I saved up enough money to buy it. Carried it all through my childhood and much of my adult life. Gave it to my wife after we got married. I hope she didn't lose it! Even performed minor surgery with it when I was in High School. It was the only knife that I was able to carry on my person on a plane.

Nicely done. A giant fresnel lens? Let's see the giant tinder bundle. Hey, @Bear has a giant tinder bundle from his cutting tests.

Have been using a leatherman charge for last 10 yrs or so,i did buy a skeletool when i broke the jaws on my charge doing something stupid and had to send it in for warranty, i dont mind the skeletool but when i bought it only one they had was one with the half serrated blade, ive also found buying the extra bit set gives you a bunch more options including some torx and larger allen key bits

I've just about given up on multi-tools as an EDC but like to have one in the bag. I have a Leatherman Wave with bits that the wife bought me for Christmas a couple of years ago but it's huge. I also have one of the original multi-tools (I think it's a supertool but can't be sure). I'm not even positive they still sell it anymore. That's in another bag.

UncleMorgan I like peeling bananas and (occasionally) people.

I lucked into a free Leatherman Super Tool 300 about a week ago. It looked like it had been dropped into a bucket of red paint.
Cleaned it up and it was like new. I've been carrying it around and doing small fixes with it ever since. Very impressed with the quality. I also like the fact that it's just plain heavy. I may have to make a sling for it, but I don't think it'll break the first time I have to use it hard. I find that refreshing.

If it was covered in red paint, it might have been part of a contractors tool kit, for a project at a prison..... I have three of the 100 piece tool kits and a bunch of other specialty tools left over from my last job in an IMU. Everything had to be painted red per protocol for any tool being brought in thru the gate. This allows for them to be spotted easier if they are missing during tool inventory....

There is your jail trivia of the day..... ;)

Interesting. But I have never had to paint my tools any color while working inside a prison. It must be a local thing.

WA DOC requirements.......must be a local thing, but it makes sense.

It may also be based on duration.... all of our work has been over a month or more inside and we have had to do this each time.

We are in and out in a few days max. And of course, escorted at all times. We have found makeshift weapons while inside. It is best to just say nothing, and hand it to the guard, for disposal. If you mention it to anyone it is an automatic lockdown, and that can take several hours to release.

Ha Ha..... hand it to a guard, not a chance, show it to them and move on..... we do not touch anything that is not ours......you just never know where it has been or what may be on it.

Lock downs are way to much fun.......

That is either the most original and unique 'multitool' ever, or the most braindead stupid. I haven't figured out which yet. A bunch of 'tools'....OK. But I don't see how one achieves any meaningful leverage?

I have several cheapo multitools, but just don't carry or use one enough to spend any real money on a 'good' one.
Have not found one yet that had a decent can opener, that my ancient P38 cannot make look pale and useless by comparison.
