I agree...."pave paradise, and put up a parking lot".

I doubt that there'd be many die-hard Calvanist donations....and I wonder how much the Vatican will stump up for one of its cathedrals.??

What’s wrong with them rebuilding? If your church burned down would you not rebuild?

Somehow I doubt that you'd be making that kind of argument for a mosque that had been burned down...If you were consistent with your logic, perhaps that would be a splendid argument for rebuilding mosques burned down in the USA. Way to go om11.(y)

We would rebuild the mosque. Just as a pig farm.

Seems like a more productive purpose for rebuilt churches also....who doesn't like bacon.

it's not the rebuilding, it's the rebuilding of a replicate (without the art which is lost now) historical reproductions take 9-10 times more money. Just to rebuild a large church would be fine but a historical replication would be a fire trap and a waste of money. Notre Dame would have been condemned long ago were is not a historical structure. It really was not a safe building but it was beautiful.

My objection is that the money could be better spent in other places. The church can afford to replace it with out donations. You might want to do some reading on the Vatican and the Vatican bank and how much of your life they control

Far too many....though I'm more than happy to see them closed down and sold off as a consequence of disuse.

It apparently is a growing trend I understand as more folk become b nones.
