All members of the Florida "Tribe" better watch this one closely and make plans to get out of the way.... it will be bad if this hits a little more west.... Yeah, I heard she went to a Cat 5 this morning. This storm was just classified as a 'cane yesterday, that is some major stregthening in a short time. Maybe it will fizzle out just as fast? I do not wish any ill will to the folks in her path, just thanking God she is not heading to N.O. (although, if they were to get hit again, maybe they would abandon the city? Nah, never happen.) Ryan
Mandatory evacuation of the Keys going on now.... So far I am looking safe....will definitely get some bad weather..but unless it turns at the last minute and they sure do that...I will be ok.. I am in the tip top NE of the state...My little island isn't even on that map.... 14 miles long and 2.3 miles wide at the widest point...... Amelia Island , as the more pretentious call it....I prefer the city's name , which is Fernandina Beach.....Me and the other worker bees...
Well, if Katrina was the end all of hurricanes that will kill anything outside and in it's path, I wonder if this one will just remove Florida from the map?
Sorry bear. I am on dial-up and all I got for the longest time was a blank entry, so I made a cutsey smartass comment. Today, I let it sit and saw the picture, so sorry about that, my bad!
No worries.... actually thought it was kinda funny.... no apologies or anything neccessary... Resume the partying.....
Soooo, What makes a storm that big make a 90° turn like that? Why doesn't it just keep going towards the gulf? I'm sure it has something to do with Bears charts and pressure/crosswinds/etc but that's a drastic turn. melbo
There's a big old cold front or low pressure that's coming down from the north that they are hoping is going to push Wilma off to the east.... Lots of days left for it to do whatever it wants.... Florida is prepping and evacuating big time.... but I still think hurricanes are pretty unpredictable.... that can go in your favor or against you.... I'll be happier when this doesn't head for another direct hit between Texas and Louisiana.... take a look... this thing going all over the place a couple of days ago....
